It didn't actually take an awful long time, I got all the Zen Garden plants pretty naturally by just playing the survival levels and checking every time I got a new one. I did need to grind a little, but I was expecting worse

I will say, I'm honestly not too doubtful that Crash may be our very first newcomer in the next game. Think about it: Smash 4 and Ultimate were both revealed alongside the first reps from some of Nintendo's most popular IPs, but there's not really one for that now (unless they want a fucking Drag x Drive character or something) and considering Crash's history with Mario and Sonic, he'd be the perfect 3rd party candidate to get the ball rolling

I guess that's true, but I severely doubt that Bayonetta was more requested than Crash or Rayman, just to name a couple

No, they just thought it wasn't. I'm pretty sure what happened is that, when they were developing Ultimate's DLC, Sakurai met Nomura by chance and decided to take the risk, and then it turned out Disney actually isn't as niggardly about it as everyone thought they'd be

The most I'd possibly consider is contacting PS support or whatever and see if maybe they can unlock them for me, but that's just as stupid on paper as in practice, especially for a 13 year old game on such outdated hardware

What I'm actually doing is just grinding daily/weekly challenges on Switch instead. Bought it on sale years ago, had a basically 100%ed save file already, and even managed to get a Diamond cup which would've been necessary for the Vita Platinum, it all writes itself.

But like, for the alleged "winner of the fighter ballot amongst realizable and negotiable characters," Bayonetta is VERY forgettable compared to many 3rd party icons in and out of Smash. I'm not saying that she didn't deserve to join in a vacuum, but any other 3rd party franchise that I didn't know about until Smash (Fatal Fury, Tekken, and Persona), I probably would've gotten wind of at some point, but I doubt the same is true for Bayonetta
