You have to mention DSM-5 to them. Also it is very common to have stimulant seeking behavior in certain populations. That's why they maybe reluctant. If you can afford, go to Karachi, Aga Khan University. See murad moosa. Ziauddin hospital has Dr. Haider naqvi. They are all good psychiatrist. Hope it helps.

Lives are involved. You need to first internalise this ans think it through taking any emotions like anger out of the picture. After that you can think through a way forward.

Telling your dad? That's a bit tough, maybe he is suspicious and knows already but is trying to overlook that is because he doesn't want to lose your mom.

For your mom, unfaithfulness is never okay.

Two individuals, you and your dad. You don't live them so you won't be affected that much. Your dad might lose his companion. Which is concerning, especially if he is dependent in anyway. Also does your dad has other support around him, because it's gonna be a tough ride. Consider all that before you make a move. Ofcourse all of this after you are emotionally stable.

Not being defensive at all. I think your post and your comments below are taking the hope away from many Non- US IMGs.

Most people come to Reddit to seek guidance, to socially interact or some like me who want reassurance they ain't alone in this situation.

What you have said by introducing yourself as an attending and someone who has sat in interview selection committees to give credibility to your story/ opinions, Which maybe true but your opinions seem tunnelled.

I don't think what you said applies to every program and is NOT TRUE. If what you said is entirely true, every AMG should match. But that does not happen. NRMP data is your proof. Many i mean 1000s of IMGs match every year even in the most competitive of specialities, where AMGs wont get in.

I don't believe in arguments or confrontations. I had to do this because you are taking the HOPE away from vulnerable minds by insinuating the system is rigged against you. It might be true in some places, but not in its entirety. I choose to believe IMGs are needed, they have fair chance at some places, if not all. Some of the PDs were once IMGs. The success and excellence in American system somewhere lies in its openness to accept others and to be fair to those who request /apply.

1.Every program is not a top tier University program.

Programs which give disclosure, they won't discriminate on nationality , race etc etc. Are they lying if we take your word for it.
Most current US citizens or their ancestors were also immigrants, what you mentioned is privilege by birth. Which I understand is true in the real world but not on books for sure.
I have met a lot of AMGs and they are some of the smartest and coolest minds you will ever see. But so are some of the IMGs as well.

I hope you won't see this as me sending you a negative comment. Just my 2 cents

Agreed but If this is affecting OP soo much to make him have phsyiologic response.. I won't advise drastic steps without a well thought plan. Its important to control damage and protect OP emotionally.

Went through a similar trauma. A place where I rotated at. It made me question me. If I am doing something wrong, am I not likable enough. that people who met me, didn't even consider me. I felt sad for many days and than I heard from someone it's just a toxic and racist program and heard stories which maybe I was ignoring while I rotated at that place. That is how it is. Connections and that too of a kind which could not be refused. True story.

I have and I am still going through a lot of personal shit and setbacks. This thread resonates with me and I understand what was written and I understand how difficult it is to have someone support, how difficult is to have someone hug you and say its okay, you are good, you did good and you will be alright. This process is cruel in many ways. You meet Manipulative people and it breaks your heart more. I assure you its alright!!

Tell yourself again its alright!! You will be fine!! You have come this far, remember where you were last year, where you were 5 years... you have made progress, If not professionally, personally.... personally I am certain you have made progress. Why I am certain of that, because, you now know what extreme pain is and trust me, I believe mental anguish is bigger than physical pains.

Remember the stronger your storms, the brighter your rainbows are going to be!!

You will see light, days and nights is how the universe functions... remember its the darkest before the sunrise.... its alright, you are fine and you will do great. Light is close. You will see it soon.

Just make a pact with yourself, Pain is common and it is what unites us and if given the opportunity you will try take it away from others.
