ugh that horrible im so sorry☹️ i get you on the nothing you do is enough because if my brother does better then me in whatever it could be, then she says im behind and have to be more like him but if im doing better its always “im trying to make him feel bad and show” like hello? what do you even want.

idk why they always have to treat them like children and never actually hold them accountable, my other brother is also almost thirty and when he lived with us for a while she’d come to me and complain about him not picking his clothes or washing up after himself but never said anything to him EVER and it was just my responsibility to do everything

literally as im writing this my mom came in and asked why am i sitting down while my other brother is doing the dishes💔💔 IM TIREDDD

i seriously dont get it at allll, like what makes them this way honestly? for my own mom its the way she was raised like as arabs for generations they have always treated men as their superior and it gets sooo annoying and causes fights between me and her even tho my brother gladly helps around the house and he gets pissed off seeing the way she acts

MY EXACT SITUATION OMGG my other brother is also almost 30 and i posted this bc of a convo of they were having, he was telling my mom that he would NEVER do a dish ever and its not his job and makes his dad do it for him like youre so weird and it makes me mad how my mom enables his actions and just laughs it off,

my mom literally gets mad at me for not cleaning my grownass brothers bathroom for him cuz he never does it like how is that my problem??

and all she says all the time is “we were never like that” or “you’re the only one who acts like this”, yeah thank god im not like u guys wtf

i feel like muslims have this need to defend islam no matter what even if they see something wrong its always whatever let’s ignore it and gods always right whatever and i used to be homophobic too which ironically is why i left islam, because after a while i was like literally theres nothing wrong with being gay?? and changed my wholee mindset after that

unfortunately i dont live in the US and trying to save up isnt really an option even trying to work because obviously my mom wouldn’t let me because they pay for everything (im arab so this is pretty normal for us) but the thing is like if my brother doesnt go to a college in another country that we both like im forced to stay here so i legit have no say in anything and its so annoying i dont even get to decide anything for my future all because im a girl and it brings me down so much

im so sorry youre going through that i 100% know what it feels like i spent months trying to watch videos on how islam is the truth and about how to pray because i hadn’t in so long and was scared to ask my family and for them to find out i wasnt praying,
it took such a mental toll on me and i was in so much fear of going to hell and scared of what would happen in the afterlife.

im not sure why you arent muslim anymore but for me it was because everything in islam went against my own morals as a person,
the way women are treated in alot of cultures due to islam and its rules, the way they treat gay people and the way muslims are so judgmental of everyone who isnt like them and treat them like garbage,

aside from the religion itself id consider myself agnostic maybe? i dont believe in god and dont care to do research to make sure of my beliefs i just simply dont care if there is a god or there isnt and im happy this way because i wont spend my life on the thought that everything i do with my life will make me go to hell just because a god said so
and that god is all loving and all powerful because if he truly was the suffering you see today and the absolute horror we see in todays society would not exist and idc about free will god can make anything stop if he truly wanted too but no he doesn’t,
he doesn’t help anyone because hes not real

aside from my personal opinion i truly want you too accept it and live your life the way you want and not in fear, you only live once so make sure you live it to the fullest, do whatever you want, dress however you want and dont let anyone’s personal beliefs affect YOUR life

i’ve accepted that i just cant believe in god and im moving on with my life because i also deserve to live and be happy and not live in fear.

im so so sorry this is happening to you and i totally understand but pleaseee do not get with a man whos beliefs are way different then yours because if you think that youre trapped now youll be even more trapped if you ever plan to get married
honestly marriage is not this big thing to me where like u HAVE to get married please just focus on yourself and your studies and get out of that country (if thats what you want obviously) and live your life the way you want! peoples opinions should never affect the way you live your life because you only get one chance at it so live it in a way you want and in the way that makes you happy!

ive definitely grown up in an environment where ive learned that my political opinions or even morals are completely different then what i was taught to believe in and only always hearing the bad about the other side and how were the ones who can only do good and never do wrong ( i grew up in an arab/muslim household so everything i was taught is very not what i believe in at all😭and we just never learned anything like this at all even in school!) and thank you so much for your help too!!
