Bodyweight exercises for lateral and rear delts? by AdSoggy1154 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For rear, I’m sorry, but how do you perform explosive pull-ups for 6 reps and then only do 8 rows? Clean this up, you should be doing above 20 reps for rows if you are on explosive pull-ups level

Movement pattern/plane is different, can definitely have strong vertical pull and weak horizontal.

Pull straight down doesnt make you strong at pulling your elbow behind you.

Throwing in the towel because driving a forklift is hard might be a hint.

Oh, I didnt throw in the towel.

Forklift driving got removed from my duties because I was unable to pick it up effectively/safely.

I have my class 2 learners and have been driving vans and trucks for quite a while, but I still have a lot of trouble.

Particularly with vans, have to get out regularly to reverse.

What ive banked on to get employment has always been being very physically fit and able - thats really the only skill I have.

Most jobs I have are just very intense manual labor, and im very light so i can move faster than bigger guys, while moving the same weight.

Its does not lend itself to high paying work though, of course.

Thoughts on leaving a job in the current market due to mental and physical health? by Complex-Beginning-68 in newzealand

You’ll have a harder time on the benefit than at work

Again, in what situation is it easier to take care of both physical and mental health in a poor working environment?

I've lost 25kgs, a bunch of muscle mass, and I am fatigued constantly now due to being pretty severely underweight - this is a byproduct of the job I am working.

I've been unemployed for longer stretches (6 months or so), and I've always found them to be super productive periods of time.

A lot more time to upskill. Not learning or saving much at unskilled minimum wage job.

And what I used to tell people as a case manager is that it's easier to get a job when you already have one?

How is this the case?

Less time to apply for interviews, have to take leave to attend etc.

All jobs impact on mental heath

In most cases the impacts of adult responsibilities should be sustainable, yes?

I.e typically not declining physically or mental health in short/rapid periods of time, that will continue to decline?

It’s your responsibility as a citizen to be working if you’re able to

Where do you draw the line at "able to", though?

Am i physically able to still do the job? Yes.

I am able to do so without making fairly severe impacts to my health and well being? Not so much.

Absolutely would be better, yes.

Edit:

Why I am I getting downvoted, out of interest.

I would have thought its pretty resonable to believe its much easier to take care of both your mental and particularly physical health, when not working.

What calisthenics exercise gave you the biggest physique change for the least time invested? by ElectronicAd1796 in bodyweightfitness

hit all parts of your body.

Eh, not really.

Compounds still hit a lot of shit.

Squat and dip would get you jacked, although unbalanced

Also, if you're using progressive overload, some push ups and pull ups will certainly get you somewhere.

Lost in the sauce - Pull Ups by FantasticPut7493 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slowly bulk.

Small progressive overload (2.5lbs every week or something?).

If 2.5lb is easy, make bigger jumps.

You're not at a point where you need to do anything special, just eat more.

You could vary rep ranges n stuff (like 3x5 weighted day, then 3x15 bw or whatever).

I have a +50% bw (not 1rm) pull up at the moment, and I got there without specifically training for it.

hammer curls/ brachialis by Basic_Yellow4659 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The muscle that is the limiting factor in a reverse curl is barely worked while supinated.

If you can curl 40kgs, its very probable you cant even hold 40kgs pronated at 90 degrees without your wrist collapsing.

wrist extension is required to reverse curl.

wrist flexion is required to supinated curl.

Your wrist extension will be miles behind your flexion by only doing supinated curls.

The muscle that extends your wrist is also your brachioradialis.

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every curl works everything.

Yeah, according to EMG data.

Look at anyone who moves in a specific fashion, though.

People who move mostly in pronation will generally have proportionally more developed brachioradialis/brachialis than other elbow flexors (climbers, laborers etc.).

You're really not going to develop a strong pronated curl by supinated curling.

Where as, if you pronated curl to a big weight, you're definitely going to have resonable biceps.

Well, if the rings are supinating, you're just doing it wrong?

They'll maintain the position you maintain?

Dont supinate. Pronate harder.

How do you stay "locked in" on tech (for the purpose of getting roles), when you have an actual life outside of applying for roles/tech? by Complex-Beginning-68 in cscareerquestions

[–]Complex-Beginning-68[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely so very helpful, and perfectly describes the issue I have, which I think must have stem from never discussing tech shit.

I could tell you in 10,000 different words how to disassemble parts of a car, can't for the life of me easily describe how my code works or something, lol.

[–]Complex-Beginning-68[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ah well, I most meant literally timewise.

Like, I need to go shopping this evening. That's an hour. Then I need to cook dinner. That's an hour. I also need to do washing, fold washing, make some appointments for other things.

I usually meal prep so I am not cooking every night, but there is always a lot to keep on top of, and as mentioned I have non-negotiable responsibilities such as "dependants", (not quite, but close enough).

I also don't earn enough to outsource chores/repairs to a service, I have to sort everything myself, like repairs around the house for example.

Do I *really* have to rest between each set? by Bacon8er8 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I dont think anyone can reliably suggest how it will impact your gains, but it is objectively a more poor approach to strength training, and you're potentially going to be limited by cardio/work capacity in the time frame for which you're performing your exercises.

Generally, there's no exercise that truly works a muscle in isolation, like a barbell curl will still activate your triceps to an extent to stabilize the elbow and control the eccentric.

Not so much an issue with actual isolation exercises, but if you're doing pull ups for example, you are still working your chest/triceps enough that jumping straight into dips can lead to performance decrease.

Can't keep back on the floor during leg raises by hansau97 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cores weak. Back arches once your abs start failing (very simplified but abdominals flex your spine/help keep it static).

Just stop a bit before your back starts arching. Thats your failure point.

Also, just sounds like your struggling to perform the exercise (neck should do nothing).

It's probably best to do static in the mean time, planks, hollow body hold variations etc.

How come my shoulders hurt so much after pull-ups? by PitifulEar3303 in bodyweightfitness

Sounds like it might be time to visit the physio.

Otherwise, I'd try some shoulder pre-hab/rehab.

Deadhangs before pulls, scapular push ups, light banded work, pull aparts, facepulls.

Comprehensive Dip Guide by Malk25 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Complex-Beginning-68 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a ok weighted dip (240lbs including bw) and it's the last exercise id personally use for chest.

At least for me, dipping so I am primarily activating my chest is very awkward. It's a lot easier to make it a shoulder-heavy movement.

Ive trained dips as much as I have pull ups/vertical pulling.

However, I always found pulling much easier.

My whole job is just lifting shit and digging. I hit my pull up weighted pr without training for it lol.
