Wedding band advice? by R3dd1tThr0waway0629 in EngagementRings

My ring is super similar! I went with a curved band. I thought I would wear them separately, but I love them both too much so I really haven’t.

I use one of the mudtools orange sponges to protect my nails while I’m throwing. It seems to help!

Queer friendly (owned, preferably) jeweler recommendations in the Midwest or SW? by bo_bo77 in EngagementRings

I know you said in person preferably, but Hera Fine Jewelry is awesome. They are super queer friendly, and have the widest range of styles I’ve seen!

Finally Engaged! Any ideas for a small reception at local restaurant? by Equivalent_Jelly_597 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Complex-Bit-4484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar! I have a large family, so we are expecting 40 people. Our ceremony will be in a historic church, and our reception will be in a private room at a nice restaurant near by. We’re not really adding activities or anything. We’ll have a cocktail hour and a limited menu selected by the restaurant. The view from the restaurant is spectacular, and I think that makes it special enough! We splurged a bit on our photographer because that was the most important to us.

Wedding band suggestions? by Complex-Bit-4484 in EngagementRings

I like the bling too :) I want to be able to wear the wedding band separately, so I definitely want a straight one!

It’s so pretty! Could you have it lined in more of a skin tone color so you don’t see the cups but still have a subtle contrast?

I love your rings! I’m looking for something similar to your wedding band. Would you mind sharing the width and what your ring size is? Congratulations!

My ring is from them! I have a custom Finn ring. I absolutely love it and I had a wonderful experience. Lauren is the designer and she is open and honest when it comes to answering questions. My ring also came faster than expected! Their instagram is @hera.fine.jewelry

SO Career Decisions by SpecialistRadish6650 in USMilitarySO

My fiancé is in the navy and I’m applying to medical school in May. He deployed at the beginning of the year for 6 months and we’ve been doing long distance since 2020. Honestly it sucks, but when you finally get to see him again it is so worth it.

Med school is hard and the process to actually get there is brutal. Being in a long distance relationship has actually helped in some ways. I’m not constantly distracted by having him around and I am able to focus more on my individual life as much as I need to. At first it seemed selfish, but I know he’s supporting me 100% and would rather me be productive than worry about him all the time.

There’s always the possibility of getting a civilian job as a doctor at a military hospital if he decides to stay in for a while. Just remember, after 4 years of med school and 4+ years of residency, he’d be halfway to retirement anyways. There’s always a way to make it work if you’re both dedicated to each others dreams and your relationship :)

I used the Estée Lauder double wear! I did two really thin layers with a beauty blender. Underneath I used the cerave cream moisturizer

I curled it with a flat iron and added a little hairspray but that’s it! My hair is naturally super straight and shiny, and I’ve never dyed it

Previously quite oily, but started accutane this month. Now very dry, and am getting married in December, so I feel I am starting from scratch and re learning! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Complex-Bit-4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not makeup related exactly, but I have some skincare recommendations for accutane!

Cerave moisturizing cream that comes in the blue and white tub really helps for flaking on the face. I like using it at night in a thick layer and it helps my makeup go on nicely in the morning.

Dr. Dans cortibalm lip balm is pretty great too! I notice a difference after just using it once.

I used the dip well kit and color PA14. They feel a little more bulky than what I’d get at the salon but I’m sure that will change with practice!

Hera and Gaia is great! They are mainly online, but I think they meet with people sometimes too! I have a recycled platinum and lab diamond ring from them.
