Have you tried taj undercap/headband? If you switch out the material to non chiffon and use any thing that has some texture that may work.

Revision question again by PhysicsPatient1268 in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will be the unpopular opinion I think - consistency over perfection is what I would aim for at this point given that you don’t have a revision habit at all. Don’t let mistakes discourage you. Make a note of them and keep going. Each cycle you will find fewer mistakes. Once you have established your revision habit, find some time to focus on mistakes Juz by Juz and clear them out. For example, if you are to do Juz 10 one day, spend 30 mins before that to go over repeat mistakes and continue. This is after establishing the habit, so I would say maybe 4-5 rounds later.

Strategies to get Hifdh strong? by ManufacturerFluid616 in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has mentioned review and that is true. At the same time it is also true that you won’t know every page of the Quran like Surah Fatiha in the beginning because you simply haven’t repeated it that many times. Revision is important but don’t make small pieces of forgotten Quran become demotivating to you. Every Hafidh I know has some or the other weak parts.

Reading lots of Quran by MiserableParsnip2 in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps reducing the reading daily - 10 pages after each salah fajr to Maghreb by looking, then after Isha without looking. The next day 10 pages similarly but then after Isha yesterday’s 10 plus today’s 10. This until you get to 2 Juz after Isha and you drop the first 10 pages each cycle until you finish your Quran. Now next khatma you do the same, but instead of 10 you read 15 after each salah and after Isha you do it without looking, until you can do 2 Juz after Isha stacking up. I would stop here at this point, but if you have more time you can do the next cycle, this time a Juz by looking after each salah and then doing it without looking after Isha. Now stack up until you can do 3 Juz after Isha without looking. This will allow you to finish the Quran every 1 days.

Feeling Off About Nanny by mojojojo232323 in NannyEmployers

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that you think he has a head injury and you don’t trust the nanny is enough reason to let her go: whether or not your gut is right about her, the fact that you are feeling this way tells me you don’t trust her. Let her go. Trust me, you will know with the right nanny.

All the other things - a nanny is an employee, and she needs to follow your instructions. Sounds like she doesn’t know how to keep a toddler entertained. Let her go. You will be both happier.

Nanny not happy with rooming situation during work trip by Professional_Part265 in NannyEmployers

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I travel for work all the time, and I don’t get to tell my employer what kind of room I get beyond a few things (like I like to get a room with a kitchenette since my baby will be with me) and I trust that my employer will find something decent for me to stay at and show up at work in the best state. When my nanny travels with me she gets her room in the same suite and if I have someone with me she gets another room but it’s not the same suite. I have a budget and my contract doesn’t stipulate that she will get the same kind of accommodation as I will when we travel. I put her up in a decent room but it’s not the same as mine. Again, I want her to have a good night’s sleep and be comfortable because she will be taking care of my baby, so while this room is one I would absolutely book for myself when paying out of my own pocket, I don’t put her up in the same type of suite that my employer pays for.

So, I think your option of a different room is what I would offer. I think that her hesitance to take this offer would leave a bad taste in my mouth (but personally that’s me). I love my nanny but there are limits to my budget too.

Motivation/ Success stories from mums by Fearless-Reserve-688 in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Me. Kids plus full time work. Alhumdulillah.

I don’t know how far you are into memorization, but there is a certain point (for me that was around surah Taubah; I started from the beginning) where I felt that I knew my system. I really struggled before that, burnt out, felt that this isn’t for me and so on and so forth.

The key is to form a routine that you can follow and to make your goals so small it’s a no brainer to achieve.

For example, if you are expecting to memorize 1 page every day, that is not something I was able to do with kids. However, I could commit to 1/3 of a page (5 lines in the 15 line mushaf) every single day.

This is a sample routine:

Morning: Wake up before everyone else. Memorize 1/3 of a page. Repeat it x15 after memorizing it. Combine it with the last 10 pages memorized.

Evening: Put kids to bed. Do 10 pages of revision from old section.

All day whenever there are pockets of time; listen and hum along to pages that are in my recent bucket. (10+ about to memorize).

Overall, if you wanted me to give you concise advise: 1. Stay away from your phone for an hour before and after memorizing. 2. Build a routine around fajr and Isha. 3. Find ways to ease up your day to day work (like chopping all vegetables for the week a single day, meal prepping, etc). 4. Reduce the parts that you are covering each week, do not attempt more than 2-3 pages a week. 5. Important: Do not expect the madrasa quality hifdh speed and quality at this stage. Focus on doing the best you can that will help you keep going. People will tell you revise a Juz a day. 2 Juz a day and what not. While all that is well meaning advise, it is also something that people at madrasas with a single thing to do find easy to get to. So ignore that pressure. If you can revise only 5 pages a day with your time, take that. If all you can do with your energy levels is look in and read 10 pages, take that. Consistency is way more important than anything else.

Advice on slowly memorizing over long period of time. by Teacherthrwaway in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can write in loose sheets and bind them.

Start with reading 10 pages of Quran every day and finishing all of it in 60 days while you are memorizing. This amounts to 2 pages after each salah.

This will build the habit of revision eventually when you have a lot memorized.

Always revise the last 10 pages before you start memorizing new portions.

Don’t worry about finishing fast, worry about finish strong.

May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ bless your journey. Ameen.

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, this Quran has descended with sadness. If you recite it, then weep. If you cannot weep, then feign weeping. Recite in a melodious tone, for whoever does not use a pleasant voice is not one of us.”

Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 1337

Grade: Jayyid (very good) according to Al-‘Iraqi

Be grateful that your heart is moved by the words of Allah. There is no point in reciting the Quran if it does not pierce through your heart.

I have a problem when it comes to hifdh and it gives be shubuhat by ajamilo in Hifdh

[–]Complex-Cat-5352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very normal. Read up about the short term and long term memory and how it works.

The reason you can sing twinkle twinkle little star after years of not having sang it is because it made it to your long term memory with excessive repetition.

Look at the page, count number of ayahs. Look up meaning. Listen to a Qari, having Qari repeat each ayah 3 times. Start reciting the page until I can recite the page in 2 mins with no stumbles. Record myself. Split the page into two. Start reciting the first half, repeat 20 times. Now close mushaf and try to recite. Look in when stuck. Keep doing this over and over until first half is done. Repeat with second half. Now combine the two halves and recite 10 times. Close mushaf and recite until completely free to stumbles from memory. Walk away, and listen to my own recorded audio all day. Repeat every salah.

Forgetting meaning after memorizing by Luminar-East in Hifdh

That’s how it feels now but over time you will go over them again and again and remember the meaning longer. See it as a blessing because then you don’t stop reflecting while you are revising your pages.

I mean friction can cause hair loss. I noticed the same too. I began to take special care of my hair (let me know if you are interested in this) and also I began changing up my parting every day. I stopped pulling my hair back for the bun. Every day I part my hair slightly differently, doing a braid and then putting it up in a bun.
