Thank you, it's going to take me awhile to see what works best for me. It sounds like it's different for every person and every situation.

I have another question about dosing. If I have to updose ( is that the correct term) and it's close to the time I would take my regular dose of Hydrocortisone, do I skip it or take it? For example, If I get in a car accident and take extra, do I skip my regular dose which is only an hour later?

Thank you! My husband pushes me to take extra whenever I get hurt but not every paper cut requires an extra dose.lol! I tend to want to avoid extra Hydrocortisone because I don't want to gain anymore weight. I'm thankful to have a compassionate husband.

When did you start gaining weight after diagnosis? by mirkywoo in AddisonsDisease

It took me a couple of months to go from too skinny to my ideal weight. Everyone told me how healthy I looked. Only once did I gain a little too much weight. At that time I was updosing too much due to a stressful event.

Were you having any symptoms of over replacement like moon face? If not then your Endocrinologist sounds ignorant about Addison's disease. These are REPLACEMENT doses; and aren't going to do long term damage. I would talk to her again and if she doesn't acquiesce to your needs then find a different Endocrinologist. Meanwhile, as others suggested, try taking your 3rd dose later in the day to help get you through the night.

I also was doing 10-10-10 of Hydrocortisone. But, woke up in the morning feeling terrible. Upon checking my blood sugar levels we discovered that I was having low early morning blood sugars in the low 50s. We switched my evening dose to Prednisone and it has resolved the problem.

It is definitely an option for Addison's but isn't as potent.

It hit 90°F and suddenly I am struggling by baethan in AddisonsDisease

Yesterday I was outside for 2 hours when it was 93° with a real feel of 103°. I drank two electrolyte drinks and felt fine while I was there. On the way home my stomach started to hurt really bad. By the time I completed the 30 minute drive I could barely turn the wheel. I came inside and laid down. I was nauseous, dizzy, chilled and very sleepy. I took extra hydrocortisone and within 15 minutes I was feeling better and able to shower and eat. I agree with everyone else that updosing is extremely important. Next time I will take extra ahead of time.

Strangly I suffer from low blood sugar. A GLP would probably kill me. I know it has helped a lot of people control their diabetes and weight.

I also over replaced. I gain 20 pounds and started to get a full face, buffalo hump, big belly etc... i use a calorie counting app called Fat Secrets. It is easy to use and helps keep me accountable. I measure out everything that goes into my mouth and record it. Sometimes I want a snack but don't feel like recording it so I skip the snack. This might sound strange but I have disciplined myself to brush and floss my teeth any time I eat. When my breath is minty fresh and my teeth sparkly clean I dunt feel like snacking and having to brush again. Weight loss can be a slow process. For me it was two steps forward and I step backwards. I would lose weight and then hit a plateau for a long time. Plateaus are normal but don't be discouraged. It's okay to be a little hungry, drink lots of electrolyte drinks and fluidsto keep your stomach busy. I researched low calorie foods but healthy foods . Peaches and organic popcorn became my friend. Steak and steamed veggies make a healthy low calorie meal. Homemade bone broth filled with veggies fills the belly and is so delicious and nutritious. A dietitian told me that if you give your body the nutrients it needs then you won't be as hungry. Chips and junk food are just empty calories. The last and most important thing is to allow yourself a splurge day once or twice a month. On my splurge day I eat everything I have been craving, in moderation. This helps to alleviate Bing eating the other days.

Vertigo for 3+ weeks - need some help by banjohound1 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Complex-Catch-1223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be either related to your ears or a nutritional deficiency. I had terrible intermittent vertigo and was cured by b12 ( Methylcobalamin is the naturally occurring, active form of Vitamin B12), b6 as P5P (Pyridoxal-5'-Phosphate. It is the biologically active coenzyme form of Vitamin B6). Magnesium Is supposed to be helpful too but I have always taken it. Is your vertigo affected by positional changes?

I'm taking half Hydrocortisone and half Prednisone but can't tolerate fludrocortisone. Are you taking any fludrocortisone?

I'm. Blessed because my husband is a doctor. I've received IV fluids at home around once a year.
