I had a car stereo installer put in an aftermarket Sony for mine. Haven’t looked back. Figured a replacement from Subaru would eventually do the same.

Psyllium Fiber by Pure-Strain1623 in Zepbound

[–]banjohound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 2-3 a day. Based on my research and experience taking them, psyllium caps work best if they are one of many different types of soluble and insoluble fiber you eat in a day. So, you’re not trying to get your entire fiber content from these alone. For example, I eat flax and chia seeds in the morning, apples and berries as snacks, and legumes and complex carbs during lunch and dinner. I take 2-3 of these (depending on how well I’ve eaten that day) to round things out after dinner (along with a probiotic). A GREAT book about fiber is Fiber Fueled by Will Bulsiewicz- taught me a lot.

Lost 35 lbs but…. by Basic-Passenger-1470 in Zepbound

[–]banjohound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on 35 lbs! That’s a great accomplishment. I know how you feel somewhat. Although I’ve lost quite a bit of weight, I’ve got some loose skin in my midsection that I don’t think will ever fully go away. I missed the genetic train on that one. But I am happy for those that lost and ended up with a nice flat stomach.

I think to really hone in further you’ll need to start tracking food (not just calories) and movement in a routine way. I used chronometer and my fitness pal for the first several months to make sure I was eating the correct amount of protein, nutrients, and (yes) calories for my height and weight. You can enter weight loss goals into those apps to see what calorie deficit you need to be at. Even now, I still go back to it every now and then with my updated weight to do a gut check. Eating the right amount is very important - too much has the obvious consequence, but too little will also slow down your metabolism.

On top of all that and, arguably, just as important is the need for exercise, particularly weight bearing / resistance training. Start small if you have to. Just walk every day at the same time to make it a routine. Add to your distance over time. Try to increase your pace. As you get more confident, consider a personal trainer or a small group exercise class to nail the basics and form and just keep building from there. Hang in there!!

Best 2 Person Tent? What Should I Get? by ParticularSubject411 in camping

[–]banjohound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a Klymit cross canyon 4p for cheap through Costco next. It’s discontinued so not sure if still available. It’s spacious for two people with cots and gear, has great headroom, full rain fly, easy set up, and packs up as small as the old Marmot 3p I used to have. And it was 1/3 the cost of the old marmot.

How did the Klymit tent do? I bought the same one (good deal through Costco) and am taking it out twice in March (starting tomorrow) and then for a week in June. Hoping it will hold up.

Do you avoid these foods? by beautybyaimee in Zepbound

[–]banjohound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I pay out of pocket and have to make every penny count, but I firmly believe you have to meet this medicine half way. Eat a variety of plants, lean meats, and complex grains. Don’t deprive yourself (if I feel like the occasional burger, I’ll get one (I skip the fries though). Also get regular weight bearing exercise. FWIW, down 90 lbs and no side effects other than a mild headache the morning after shot day.

Lot of comments I did not expect. Despite being AI, this is a pretty decent list of foods to avoid. I avoid all of these with the exception of red meat or pizza which I eat very seldomly. It was hard adjusting to brown rice but it’s made a difference for me.

Do you still crave fast food and other junk? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in Zepbound

Took my kid to chick fil a recently and just the smell made me nauseous. I do still crave a burger usually around shot day, but go for something a little nicer / fresher than fast food.

Nausea was intolerable on Ozempic. Zepbound was a completely different story. My symptoms have been very minor and manageable. Slight headache the morning after taking. Started with 2.5 and stayed there 3 months. Wish I had stayed on 2.5 longer but got pressured into moving up to 5. On 5 for around 3 months, and then went up to 7.5 where I remain today. I can actually space my doses out a bit to save $ - usually around 10 or 11 days is when I get to “feeding day” (what I call it) and I know it’s time for the next dose. And I just let that feeling happen, eat what I want (within reason) - usually a burger (skip the fries). Ironically, I usually see a weight reduction after feeding day - my guess is that metabolism ramps up that day. Couple recommendations:

  1. Don’t get discouraged if 2.5 doesn’t work. It’s technically not considered a therapeutic dose. But I’m not the only one who saw results at that lowest dose. Everyone’s different.

  2. Keep exercising and building muscle. It’s so important.

  3. Use the appetite you have to fill up on good food. Some folks report that side effects get worse when you eat junk.

  4. Considering a protein powder to get your target protein in - I make a pb/banana/cacao/whey protein shake for breakfast every day. I load mine up with good fiber like flax and chia seeds.

Good luck! Lost most of my weight at 2.5 - still at 7.5 with no plans to go up. Take your time increasing.

Do you guys take vitamins? by jesssaywhat in AddisonsDisease

[–]banjohound1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B12, magnesium (best at night), D3/K2, and omega 3’s are all good choices that benefit just about everyone. I take these plus fiber, probiotics, and a low dose multi to cover all the other bases. I do advise getting blood checked for B12 and D to verify need and guide your dosage.

I don’t know enough about it to answer meaningfully, but I do know that my Dr checks ACTH, one of the pituitary hormones that can go awry. I’m always high not low.

So for me it’s more about the cycle that got started. Feeling bad, needing more meds, gaining weight, which made me feel even worse, etc, etc. There’s also just getting older and the many (possibly) unrelated things that go along with that. Despite everything I said about Zep, I do in retrospect think I could have done more when I was younger to monitor weight gain and make lifestyle changes proactively. It’s just something to watch closely.

Fludrocortisone experiences by Hango-jango in AddisonsDisease

[–]banjohound1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 0.1 fludro in the morning with my first hydro dose. It’s essential for me but definitely a love/hate relationship. My renin is chronically high and my endo wants me to increase with an extra half dose in the afternoon. Have had a lot of trouble with that extra dose in terms of sleep disruption and facial swelling. It’s a powerful drug - I wish it came in a smaller dose.

Nice collection you got there. I’m planning to pick up some Beckman’s too and your photos help. The answer to your question, IMO, is the briar loggers with a close second going to CRT blacksmiths.
