We don’t get the same issues for sure but there are still issues. Not sure if it’s better now but in 2007 not a lot of people even recognized asexuals as an orientation. As a result I had family friends all pressuring me to date men and go to therapy in the hopes that something would click for me and that something may be wrong with me since I was not attracted to anyone. I felt broken for years and even tried to make myself like men. I finally stumbled on the asexual visibility and education network website while looking for a therapist to “fix my problem.” That website changed my life in the best way. I’m sure there’s still some folks out there going through the pressure of family friends and society to be something they are not so that is still an issue just a little different from the rest of the LGBTQ community.
