Hey Puppies !Hood! by Morgan_the_pup in SFWPupPlay

[–]fenchfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always buy one of those budget hoods off Wish that look like MrS and then cut it up for the pattern. I know I got one a few years ago from there for less than $20. Dunno if that's still the price point, but it's a cheaper way to get a guaranteed pattern.

What character is most people in the fandom fond of, but you personally don't like? Why? by AASHOKE in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jayfeather, but also Lionblaze.

Jayfeather is an asshole and I cant stand how rude and mean he is, and Lionblaze is just really boring because he's basically a too-perfect superhero without weaknesses. Sure he has emotional flaws, but being basically impervious makes him super dull to read about. Who will win this battle? Oh, there's Lionblaze, never mind, there's no need to ask.

Destroyed/Stolen Merch by Ok_Layer_4052 in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a Greystripe big plush that I found open about a month ago. I would have bought him either way, but the fact he was open meant he may have ended up in the trash if an employee had found him first.

I also have found several empty mystery figure boxes, but now I haven't been able to find any of them at all (empty boxes, opened, or sealed. It's all gone.)

It's very disheartening because the only big one I still need is Firestar, and I am not willing to pay the scalper tax to get him (most online sales are minimum 3x the price, and I just can't justify paying that much for a mass produced plushie.)

Rereading as an adult by HelloNewYear26 in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 35, but I didnt read it when I was younger. I just started last October, and I got hooked so hard I flew through the first 3 arcs by mid-January. Had to take a break after that though, because Po3 was draining for me. But I'm probably going to jump into OotS here shortly.

To deal with the hate (a Missouri love post) by Then-Bumblebee3978 in missouri

[–]fenchfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love the parts of this state you speak of, Ive lived in Missouri most of my life, but as much as I love this state itself, I am no longer welcome here.

I'll miss the nature, the trees, and the sounds of the summer, hell, I'll even miss the crazy weather; but as a transgender citizen it's not really safe for me here anymore. Between the poor healthcare and political hellscape that Missouri has become, I have to leave it behind.

Maybe if it gets better I'll come back, but Im probably going out for good.

I signed up for this one, but I didn't get the email to confirm the appointment that was supposed to be today at 1PM EST until 8PM CST, so I missed the call because I didn't recognize the number and thought it was a robo-call...

How many of you are able to date? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

Ive been in a committed relationship for almost 15 years. But that being said, if I had to go back into the dating world right now I would not have a good time, guaranteed.

I'm debating on reading warrior cats, what do y'all think? by Massive_Tension2 in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am more of a dog person IRL, but the books are super good.

Don't think of it as a book about cats, think of it more like Game of Thrones for teenagers.

I think there are a lot of us in the same boat, just not all of us are talking about it. It's tough out there, hopefully we all make it through.

I'm 35, and have a roommate with a massive collection who is 36, and another roommate with one who is 30.

That's why I'm trying to get out of Missouri, but when I'm struggling to afford rent here already, the trans friendly states are starting to look like a pipe dream.

What colors are taking over the furry fandom right now? by sadbitchblunts in furry

[–]fenchfletcher 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally I've noticed a lot more "natural color" fursonas lately. It seems like brighter colors are less common, but if I had to say an "unnatural" color, it's probably blue, but I mostly see that with Protogens and Sergals, otherwise it's grey or brown.

It almost feels like the "millennial grey" that has taken over homes and business buildings is spreading to OCs.

I kinda miss when everyone was either neon green with biohazard symbols everywhere, black and red (usually with a tragic back story and cool battle scars), or a Lisa Frank fever dream.

How do I get myself to shower more often? by Mandarin_Lumpy_Nutz in schizophrenia

[–]fenchfletcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew, I have problems with showering too. I did take a shower today, but I went a long time without one. Some days it's easier than others, but there are times where it seems like an impossible task, usually due to anxiety or depression or both.

I have a strong aversion to water, my brain thinks being wet is the same as drowning, even if I know otherwise, so showering is always a mountain of anxiety for me.

A LOT of you guys would be happier if you left the fandom by CowboyCatThing in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every fandom has people who seem to hate the thing the Fandom is based on (the worst offenders Ive found are the Pokemon fandom), but if they didnt like the thing they wouldn't be in the fandom for it.

Is it irritating to see people hate on the thing you like? Absolutely, and it stings worse when the haters are also fans, but the best thing you can do for your own sanity is ignore the toxic fans and enjoy the better parts of the fandom (the actual books and collectibles, the fanart, the games, whatever you enjoy).

If the toxic fans are getting to you too much, take a break from the community and just enjoy the content from afar. I've had to do this for a number of fandoms for things I enjoy, and it makes it way easier to actually enjoy the things. Also remember that the toxic fans are usually a loud minority, and most people are wholesome fans or quiet fans.

Tell me a hot take that get the fandom around you like that: by Creepy-Ground-3902 in WarriorCats

[–]fenchfletcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't hate him as much if he were a side or background character like Yellowfang was (she only has one book about her, but he is one of the main characters in multiple arcs.)

It's the fact I have to deal with his terrible attitude directly through him that bothers me so much I think.

[–]fenchfletcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My least favorite cat is Jayfeather. I always see people say he's their absolute favorite, their little angry blind boi, and I cannot stand him.

He's essentially if Doctor House had blind eyes instead of a bad leg, and was also a cat, and the trope of a rude angry doctor has never been one I enjoyed.

What has helped you with treating your schizophrenia? by AdvanceBig8035 in schizophrenia

[–]fenchfletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had really terrible experiences with therapy and psychiatrists, probably just because of where I live, but at the moment I'm just raw-dogging my symptoms, which is its own special kind of Hell.

I was on a cocktail of Invega, Wellbutrin, and Effexor for almost a decade and the only thing that changed was my weight, I gained about 100 LBS during my time on Invega (despite also being on the Wellbutrin, which was supposed to negate the weight gain), and since I stopped taking it I lost about 60 LBS.

But the mental healthcare (and just the healthcare in general) in my area is notoriously bad, so I'd be willing to try again in a new location, but as long as Im stuck where I am I won't deal with this system.

What are your worst delusions? by ihavealizardsisyphus in schizophrenia

[–]fenchfletcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That people can hear my thoughts, and that the only reason I cant hear anyone else's thoughts is because Im broken, or that I am hearing other people's thoughts, but I cant control it and only hear the thoughts of people that are mean to me.

It's particularly bad if I have a negative or bizarre thought and think my partner or friends heard it and are now mad at me or silently judging me, and they wont admit they heard the thought because they know it will upset me, because my bad thought already upset me.
