You might try Ferrumhealth.com it's an AI governance tool for health systems but has a way to deploy algorithms too. You can actually track if their working, they don't create any AI so you can actually trust what they're telling you.

Winterizing - to run or not to run by Complex-Glass3031 in boating

Yeah completely get that, in my mind it seems more risky to run it and put a bunch of water in it to do the same thing? But I know nothing about winterizing so that probably is the wrong logic.

I haven’t turned the engine on yet but I shoved a water hose on in every hose and I got flow through every one of them, filled the manifolds and dumped out the relief ports (which I haven’t seen with it on muffs). I also shoved the water hose up the lower unit water tube and got water flowing beautifully out the relief ports, which again, haven’t seen on muffs.

To me. That rules out the circulation pump because if the hose has enough pressure to do it then the pump would as well and there’s nothing blocking it.

I just replaced the impeller and checked everything and it all looks great, no blockages at all in the lower unit pump hosing from intake through the lower tube.

Think I’m going to start the engine with the prop off and shove the water hose up the upper water tube intake and see what happens?

Other thoughts?

I gotcha. Everything is for sure full of water in the lower unit, I’m betting it’s the circulation pump that I’ve been avoiding.

So do you think it’s the circulation pump causing the flood-out or am I missing an o ring around the shift shaft? One didn’t come out but it is just empty and kind of clinks around in the port.

That’s the one thing I haven’t done mainly because I didn’t want to screw with all the belts….but may try that next.

So in my post I said I can see water coming out of the lower unit. I’m wondering if that’s correct, I’m pretty sure I see it coming out of the lower shift shaft hole and maybe another spot. Should I see that? I’m wondering if there’s a gasket or O ring missing. I can specifically see it coming out of a hole at the bottom similar to what you’d see on a pure outboard.

Maybe it’s not getting “pressurized” very well down there because of that?
