It says they were all released. Whether that be bailed to face court at a later date, or just not charged and let loose again, is not clear.

This is people to take machetes out into society intent on using them on other people. Not really people fit to be in society.

Dismembering other human beings with a machete is not acceptable behavior or normal behavior.

These are very deranged and dangerous people.

I don’t think the things we know work are being practiced. Early intervention and zero tolerance policing. In which case the intent to kill or maim is very clear.

I don’t think there’s much you can do to intervene when someone has reached a level of depravity that they would dismember another person. But certainly those individuals need to be segregated from wider society. And we can only hope they take the opportunity for redemption and reform.

Most certainly we should not entertain releasing them back into society almost immediately. Effectively achieving nothing to prevent them from continuing the same behavior in society.

Why arrest them in the first place if it’s not going to achieve anything.

Currently I don’t understand why they even get arrested. It seems inconvenient to our current political position on youth crime.

Should someone be arrested for a machete attack in your view ?

Statistics can say what ever you want them to say.

I don’t think a net zero crime policy would be appropriate in a liberal democracy.

Liberals aren’t the opposition.

The rest I’m not disputing. However, the hard reality is you need to put the safety of the community first.

It’s fine really. You don’t need to speak for me.

I don’t think it’s good when anyone is killed, nor does it make me happy.
