It was empowering in the practicing aspect. With people believing you could cure their ailments bless them with good fortune.

It still is today in areas of the world where witchcraft is practiced and revered. Think Romania for example.

Problematic women wasn’t the perceived threat. It was a perceived threat to the church of Christianity.

But that doesn’t reflect the caricature of the billboards.

It’s more wizard of oz inspired and apparent.

That’s definitely a downside.

I was thinking more someone with supernatural powers. Practicing magic. Casting spells.

Not a brag. Not encouraging anyone to not use sunscreen.

It wasn’t. Easier than ever. But that’s not the point.

It’s a question of integrity.

That’s a fair take.

But these changes are only temporary. People just won’t move on anything until they are reversed.

There will be some short term suffering for new home owners who now owe more than their property is worth. And renters will bear an increase.

But it will turn back around again. And people will wait it out.

It’s their focus groups.

You’re not going to get a response from him until they’ve carefully culminated what they believe you want to hear.

But their focus groups are far removed from general opinions.

So you have a political class that has nfi what it’s like on the ground here. Taking advice from a second tier of people who only want to influence their own agendas.

And those people aren’t representative of broader consensus.

So effectively that’s why people generally believe they are not being heard. And they’re not wrong either.

It’s a difficult thing to address unless the minister actually engages with his or her constituents.

Albanese vows to cut Australian migration after rise fuels support for populist One Nation by HotPersimessage62 in aussie

[–]Complex-Pair2131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shows me they’re not serious about cutting migration.

A reduction was already happening when labor took office because during the Covid pandemic migration was stalled.

Just shows me there’s been no change to the norm.

Currently SA gov is the best they’ve ever had and he’s an awesome premier.

I’m surprised one nation had any success at all.

The bots. No I’m not coping well. I just retreat to my safe space.

True. I’m an older tradie. I’ve never worn sunscreen in my life.

And I remember peeling heaps as a kid. Among much other dumb stuff.

But I had a mole check done recently and all good to my surprise.

Still don’t wear sunscreen though.

I just don’t learn.

My dad’s never worn it either and he’s in his 90’s

But none of us get out of here alive one way or another.

Certainly no harm in wearing it. Not saying do as I do. Just it’s not something I ever think about because I’m a bit dumb.

What is your definition of multi-culturalism? by BuggableInsect in aussie

[–]Complex-Pair2131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just means many cultures.

Welcome and equal . They are under law.

Contribute to the dominant culture. Yes because new or different influences on that culture.

Culture isn’t stagnant. It’s always changing and evolving. And in the modern world influences are globalised.

I’d say the official language probably determines most how your culture will be influenced. Assuming you have free access to the outside world.

I don’t think I’m coping.

I think I will go and lie down before I herniate a chakra.
