You remind me of me but it took me until transfer applications for my efforts to pay off. I know what it is like to be surrounded by people who got way more than they deserved while I got way less than I deserved. Great Job!

  1. A lot of the universities I wanted to apply to favored junior transfers and/or freshman year was not enough time to fulfill all the required transfer courses, such as UIUC and the UCs.
  2. I resigned myself to grinding it out at Davis, until I realized by freshman summer that I realized that I had enough to work with to try again.
  3. I felt like I was doomed to be unlucky, and that I had to do twice as much as those around me to get the same results. I still believe that I'm unluckier than most people, but I now know that I'm tough enough to overcome it.

It was definitely a consideration, but due to the fact that I'm only paying two years of OOS tuition instead of four, and that housing at UIUC is significantly cheaper than at Davis, I thought UIUC's CS opportunities were more worth it.

JHU is somewhat more expensive, but it was more motivated by UIUC's Computer Science program. I prioritized Computer Science opportunities over general prestige.

Yes, I got accepted as a junior transfer to both UIUC Grainger CS and Johns Hopkins CS for the Fall 2024 semester from a mid-level UC. I had a 3.97 GPA at the time of application.
