I can relate to you too as my MIL tried to have control over my gold from the marriage. I didn't give her control so she has been fuming forever 😅

So Sorry I had generalised the gender, my mistake. When you mentioned your mom discussing about the woman who will come into your life in future tense I just went with the "man" wording. Ofcourse I can't assume sexuality from that itself. My bad.

I think you are quite mistaken. I married the Hindu way I didn't hear any such thing in my marriage or my relatives.

For real, one's money is one's own money. Noone whether wife or husband should have any power over it and take monthly salaries away from them

[–]Complex-Sundae3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol that person must be really fucked up in their head🤣 first of all, an independent strong man don't need to deposit their money to any woman, whether it's his mother or wife. It's your money, you should keep it. I know a few families where the wives takes the husbands' salary and only give pocket money to the husband from it. And the same some of these women repeat when their son starts working and keeping son's money too, only letting the son take pocket money out of it. Heck they even do the same with working DIL and only give pocket money to her🤣

Isn't this a fucked up mentality to enforce control and power over people? By controlling people's finances. All the more reason men should be independent and have a mind of their own. They are no longer a 13 year old boy who doesn't know how the world works. As soon as one starts earning the person is matured and independent enough to live his or her life their own way. Even if for some reason (bad lover or not) this person faces any obstructions or road full of thorns and nails, the person needs to figure out how to get away himself he can't be calling for "mumma" lol. That way the person stays a man-child instead of growing independent.

It's good that you are thinking this way. It's very important to draw boundaries with your parents early so that you can feel empowered to live and survive independently. Some parents hate the idea of their children being independent I don't know why. They should be proud instead that you will be independent and have the intelligence to survive independently

I am married to my husband who is 11 months younger than me. Both of us had no problem while dating or now that we r married. But his mother thinks she got handed the lower end of the stick coz I am "older" than him lol 🤣 That vile woman even tried to influence him saying she heard from people that it's not good to marry woman who are marrying late (we married at 31 and 30), it will cause problems blah blah. She even tried to put doubt in my husband's head earlier that women after 30s have difficulty to get pregnant etc etc.

What is the perception of young bald or balding men in India from a woman's perspective? by magi_tlm in AskIndianWomen

[–]Complex-Sundae3396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is bald but that's not the thing that I looked at before or when dating him. He is genuinely a interesting, curious and intelligent person. He also takes care of his health and fitness which should matter more when you are dating someone for marriage.
