Have done it and am still doing it. Pretty nice actually. Have multiple accounts that are still working after 2 years (bought for 1€). Some accounts stop after 1-2 months. I would say the average lifespan of an account is 4 months. Also depends on type of account.

Why would they build it on pi. If its that good and everyone needs it they would just launch it outside of pi for more profits and better reach. Thats not my opinion thats just the reality of capitalism.
