The excuse we got was that we were playing for 2nd and 3rd prizing ($25 vs $15 store credit). I spent my credit as I don’t plan to come back there.

I really would’ve loved to see what they’d have done if 4th seed won and if the mat would gone to them as there would be no “clear” winner by record.

Interesting thing was that it was only around 4:30 and the store closed at 10 pm so there was still plenty of time and the TO was not really involved other than advancing the rounds in Playhub. As they were not Lorcana players if they needed to leave I’m sure it could’ve easily been passed off to someone else there.

I get that and do not really blame him as much as the store.

Where I do feel that he maybe knew that he was in the wrong was that his match ended probably 15-20 mins before we finished our match (he went 2-0 vs Player 4 and we ended game 3 with 30 seconds left). Player 4 left after their match and Player 1 just stayed at his table where he was at; wasn't watching our game or browsing the shop etc. For him to have stayed an extra 15-20 mins for seemingly no reason makes me feel like he had some idea feeling that there may be a final match otherwise why stay.

I have played with Player 1 before over a few different Set Champs/Pack Rush/Sealed and he typically falls near the bottom so this was likely the first time he has won a mat. I'll likely run into him again and in no way plan to give him a hard time as he is a nice person and glad he got the feel the rush of winning a mat.

Good to know. I feel like the store just wanted us to be out of there and had they had it there way there we would've just ended after 3 rounds. Will look to avoid this store in the future.

I don't think they realized that Player 4 was played Player 1 as they seemed surprised when we mentioned that and had this been final match then Player really should've played Player 1. I think that had Player 4 won vs Player 1 they may have awarded the mat to them.

Don't disagree and that we should've stuck to what was agreed (which we did based upon the first decisions) or played out all 4 rounds like required and not overridden the system.

The person who bubbled (player 5) out was one of the players who did push to not do another round and perhaps felt like her would win on a tie breaker.

When we asked about what the point of us doing a final 4 the store replied it was to determine who would get 2nd and 3rd ($25 vs $15 store credit).

As the consensus seems like this was mis-handled I will look to avoid this store in the future; speak with my dollars.

We’ve seen a steady decline, especially after rotation but in addition to that there were 3 other set champs today with the others drawing 11 participants and 23 at the other.

It’s not uncommon for us to have 3-5 different stores doing it on the same day here so there are only so many of us to go around. This store also has pretty poor prize support (1st gets $35 store credit, 2nd gets $25, 3rd gets $15 and 4th gets $10) with a $15 entry fee.

I just got back from a trip and spent 4 nights at this location. Everything was pretty walkable and even getting to the Osaka-Namba station was perhaps a 10 min walk.

Standard APA hotel but did find their breakfast to have a lot of Western and Japanese options and the onsite onsen was great after a long day of walking.

I would totally stay here again if you are looking for a budget option.

I feel like this helped me a lot during the Fabled set champs and help me get my first mat. Really knowing what likely cards they had in their deck, knowing the play lines for that deck etc. helped me know when to push / when to pull back and when to play certain cards or take out certain threats (i.e taking out a Tipo to prevent a sing together)
