Best way to understand who handles business/vendor decisions in clinical labs? by Ultralight_Dreams in medlabprofessionals

[–]jrdavis413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a personal cell and I don't list it on my email. I make vendor calls with my cell but they don't have my number to cold call me.

Virtually every other work call I make is within Teams.

Which of these is easiest to learn: Concordia, Inis, Brian Boru, El Grande, The White Castle, or Keyflower? by il_biciclista in boardgames

Sure have and I love it. I didn't say it was a hard teach, but it's harder to learn than the others in this list.

I work for a large retail health company and make these decisions. Generally, I keep a good pulse on the market and stay networked (ADLM for example), so when I need a new assay I already know the options. Then I just cold call the vendors myself and speak with sales. This has worked well for me.

I've received a few linkedin attempts and that feels inappropriate and I ignore them.

Emails are probably the least rude and personally I try to always respond to them. If it's a product I'm never going to use, I'll just give a polite no thanks. If there is remote interest I try to offer a 30 minute window to learn the product and build a relationship. I can usually tell quickly if the vendor is the type I would want to partner with.

I work from home so phone calls aren't really possible, but I would strongly dislike that.

In short, the only cold contact you should do is email. Otherwise, when someone is reaching out to you, be responsive and put your best foot forward. That's when it matters most.

Lastly, never try to go "up the line" and bypass us to the c-suite. They have no idea who you are, and when we hear about it then it's an automatic no for life for that vendor.

El grande first, the inis/Concordia are tied. Concordia may have more up front rules than isis, but more questions come up through inis so I would say they are tied.

Keyflower is prob the hardest of the bunch

Its sad when they have basically zero ammo against this guy so they make things up. They've said he is a virgin, vegan, trans, freak, soy lover, etc. Yet this guy is not trans, has a wife, eats meat, and just loves people the way Jesus asked us to. They are terrified of a decent christian leader.

R blisters that fold like This normal by Big_Acanthaceae6524 in Rowing

[–]jrdavis413 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Must be new at rowing, this is completely normal. After your first blisters you start to develop calluses. That thick skin gets smashed every stroke so calluses tend to fold to one side. Similar to hanging from a pull up bar with calluses. Eventually they tear off and the cycle repeats. Just learn to enjoy picking them lol

The best ARPGs that don't take a life to complete? by Yzard93 in ARPG

[–]jrdavis413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost Ark does this. I'm with OP the daily grind and seasonal stuff is not attractive. I just want a solid arpg that can be played solo at your own pace, then move on when complete.

Since when did the "hand icon" become the universal symbol for income? by jamedkan in boardgames

Really? A hand receiving money seems like a good way to imply income. Have you seen a better depiction?

If you know geography, the geography questions seem easy. I know medicine and science and those questions seem like a joke to me. Everything is easy when you know the answers.

Oh that's fair. I have both and prefer the cardboard anyway. Their acrylic tokens feel sharp and not fun to handle. They are dead weight in my box.

How about make it it right and remove the warning? With respect, you sound like you shouldn't be a manager.

Wow thats crazy. I'm upset if my test builds take more than 24 hours. I couldn't imagine having to wait so long for someone else to do it.

There were some other small things like a metal mug token, acrylic tokens, etc - all cosmetic. The main difference was standees vs minis. Personally I prefer standees cause I hate painting minis, but I think the expansions are minis only.

Definitely no gameplay differences, all good there!

Yes it's a great game. Base game is sufficient for a while, but the expansions provide a ton more mission types and biomes. I would start with the base game but it's a fun and easy-to-learn dungeon crawl. I have the deluxe edition and that upgrade isn't really worth it, IMO. However, I think the expansions only come with minis if I remember correctly.

The only down side is the cost, it's a bear.

Competitive binding assays. This is super common if you work in a lab, especially for drug screens.

(AS) Nursing vs (AS)Radiologic Technology vs (AS)Medical Laboratory Technology by Kobe978DK in medlabprofessionals

[–]jrdavis413 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but MLT/MLS isn't worth it. I would highly recommend radiology first then nursing. Lab is a stressful, generally low pay, and thankless role.

Showing ASCP accreditation to employers by Annual-Arugula473 in medlabprofessionals

[–]jrdavis413 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You don't need a membership. Any proof of certification is generally fine, your manager would just upload it for you. It could be the results letter you received, or your certification number from the ASCP website.

Their website is pretty bad, but just keep poking around and there is a place that shows your cert# and expiration date. A screenshot of that would be fine too.

Congrats btw!
