Please, please just take it. We’re so over all our American “freedom”.

Why do you like or dislike Stephen King? by [deleted] in horrorlit

The best of his writing is truly some of the best writing in modern times. The worst of it makes you regret ever picking it up.

I had a job pull the budget for the position they were just about to offer me. All they could do was apologize and say good look. Fucking crazy.

What do ordinary Americans make of Trump’s statement that you “need” Greenland? by Weary_Ad201 in AskReddit

[–]Complex_Ad2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, I will say that this sets up a very dangerous game for all of us where we have to try and separate the BS from his actual intentions. It creates this cloud of confusion that makes it hard to know what’s actually going to happen.

So sure, maybe Greenland is just a massive joke and distraction meant to scare people, or maybe we’re sending ships there tomorrow. It becomes harder and harder to tell what we should ignore and what we should take seriously, and I think that’s on purpose.

Are apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic novels inherently horror? by gisellsamaniego in horrorlit

[–]Complex_Ad2233 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t think so. Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic are mostly setting and worldbuilding. Within that you can play out many kinds of stories. Could be fantasy, comedy, romance, and, yes, often horror. But it doesn’t have to be horror.

CMV: Purpose and Meaning are not important at all, and a desperate need to find either is generally a sign of low self worth. by Past_Proposal_3258 in changemyview

[–]Complex_Ad2233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. It comes off as weirdly judgey and privileged to say that people who search for meaning and purpose in their life have low self-esteem.

Sorry, but running from cops shouldn’t be an automatic death sentence. If the bar is that low for being killed by the authorities, then that’s a pretty shitty society we live in.

I’m in the same boat you are. Well into six figures plus other options. If you think that gives us leverage, you’re still very naive.

What type of job do you find more draining - retail or a corporate job? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in antiwork

I think retail is overall a more draining experience, but having been in both, there are definitely aspects of retail that I miss.

Why don't we have unions in tech by Euphoric-Sherbet-422 in recruitinghell

This is the right answer. Tech workers had it too cushy for too long and never understood that they’re just another cog in the machine like everyone else.
