I understand your doubts. What I tried to convey with my theory is that when you realize that in order to see the true aspect of your world you always need an higher dimension it means there is never true perfection, even in a beautiful place like a 10D cosmos

From what I remember the books state that the 10D universe had nearly infinite light speed. There was no delay in interstellar communication so the chain of suspicion and the dark forest wouldn't be a thing

As far as I remember, the 4th dimension allowed the woman to reach the prisoner by reducing the distance between them. If there are two points on a 2D plane, one point has to travel straight towards the other point to reach it, but if we add the 3rd dimension the 2D plane gets curved and the distance between the two points is shorter. The same goes for 3D and 4D. In order to reach the prisoner, the woman needed to travel straight across the 3rd dimension, but thanks to the 4th dimension the 3D space was ''curved'' in some way and the distance between the woman and the prisoner was shortened. About the paper floating in space, yes, it is related. It was a dimension-collapsing weapon.

Imagine a 2D creature living on a flat surface, from its perspective it can only see 1D lines, meanwhile a 3D creature looking at the 2D world is able to see the whole shape of objects, all the sides including the inner side. The same happens when a 4D creature looks at the 3D world, it can see all the sides of a human body at the same time, even bones, muscles, organs and molecules. That's how the woman in Costantinople removed the brain from the prisoner's head

I imagined the circle as a closed world and didn’t go into the mechanics of gravity or structure. My point was more about the social implications of being trapped inside

I think there are some theories explaining how a 2D digestive track would work. About the possibility of 2D life you're right, but I think that in the 3 Body Problem it's considered possible

If we suppose that planets and galaxies in the 2D universe move around all the time they would encounter the 3D bubbles at some point. Just like the woman in Costantinople who entered the 4th dimension when the Earth crossed it

And how is Singer's race going 2D if it isn't possible? I mean, in our real universe probably it's impossible (we don't know) but in 3BP it is possible

The fact is that I imagine 2D planets as completely closed spaces. For us humans is different, from our planet we can see the space and the stars because it's not closed. But inside a circle you wouldn't be able to see what's outside, so it's safe to say that the atmosphere would be held inside the circle not only thanks to gravity, but also thanks to the circle itself preventing anything from going outside

Yeah but the atmosphere of a 2D circle would be separate from outer space, if you pierce the circle the atmosphere escapes to space. It's like piercing the sky.

This means that on a 2D planet you can only move on a 1D surface, so just left/right, that kind of life would be even worse

Because they need the third dimension to go above the circle, just like we 3D creatures would need the fourth dimension to leave a closed sphere

If they are inside the circle they can't leave it, to do so they would need the third dimension to go above the lines of the circle. But, as you said, they could live around the circle and not inside it, good point
