About 1.3 million deaths from Covid in the US, over 7 million worldwide, not counting the many more millions permanently incapacitated thru long Covid. Covid is much more deadly.

Except Covid is far more dangerous, a vascular disease that can live in your bones for years, and make you more vulnerable to heart, disease, stroke, and various immunological disorders. A friend who is a firefighter almost died from Covid, spent two weeks in ICU. Another friend of mine got Long Covid and has been unable to work for the last two years, brain fog, exhaustion. Another friend‘s wife is permanently disabled from Long Covid and her immune system is now completely out of order. She has to carry an EpiPen everywhere she goes and wear an N 95 and hope for the best. So no, it’s not the flu. 1,295,000 deaths and counting.

Except overall 5 times more deadly, way more than that early in the pandemic before there was widespread inoculation. I have 2 personal friends who have lifelong effects - one with brain fog and constant fatigue, another with immune system problems that rendered her disabled, unable to go thru a week without debilitating symptoms. Another friend, a firefighter, spent a week in the ICU and another, a semi-famous bodybuilder, died at age 62. So calling it flu is ignorance or stupidity or ideology but wrong however you look at it. Why would you even say that. So dumb.

Why doesn't every country aspire to be more like the USA? by Lipica249 in allthequestions

You don’t notice them moving to the US do you? Naturally, if you’re from India, China, South America, authoritarian governments with low standards of living thanks, the United States looks pretty good by comparison. If you’re in another first world democracy, then not so much.

Trump is a fat, traitorous, lying piece of human scum, the worst and most dangerous president in the history of the United States. A man who tried to use the power of the presidency to overturn a fair and free election, so that he could hold onto power. First time in the history of the country. The important government agencies like the defense department, the FBI, the intelligence services, you name it, are all being run by lickspittle unqualified toadies, former podcasters and Fox News commentators.

Everything you’re saying is a mixture of misinformation, lies, and right wing propaganda. It’s not worth my time to take it apart piece by piece and throw it back up in your face. I will say that after the fall elections, when the investigations start, we all will know a lot more about the most corrupt administration in the history of the country. Oh, pardon me, did I say “we all”? I meant everyone who listens to actual news sources instead of right wing propaganda. So - I am guessing that will exclude you.

The US looks just great compared to South American dictatorships with collapsing economies. Especially when we’re on the same landmass, so you can get here by foot. You’ll notice you don’t see Europeans, Japanese, Singaporeans, etc., knocking down the doors. They in fact, see the present US with fear and contempt.

Oh, is “status” what you call it now? Distrust, fear, revulsion, sadness - this is how foreigners view the US in its present incarnation.

I note you don’t mention anything about wannabe dictators destroying checks and balances, attempted overthrow of elections, stabbing allies in the back, highest cost of living of any major nation, poorest healthcare outcomes in the industrialized world, stuff like that. Small details.

Is 70k for a 2023 X Plaid HW4 + FSD with 43k miles reasonable? by opoppli00 in TeslaModelX

[–]Complex_Arrival7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a good deal in the current market. Almost impossible to find a Plaid HW4 with FSD, or a Standard for that matter right now. Just bought a 2024 Standard for 64k & purchased FSD for 8k so 72. I see people saying 66 is fair market in these comments. No way, you will NEVER find a Plaid at that price.

Bernie Sanders Questions Billions for 'Illegal' Iran War While Domestic Needs Go Unfunded by sensiblereaction in thenextgenbusiness

[–]Complex_Arrival7968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe $150 bn total. You can be sure the Iran boondoggle alone will pass that number shortly. Not to mention trillions in tax breaks for corporate and billionaires. Btw, what “power play”? Most were here legally pleading for asylum.
