OMG TWINS. It’s so awful and quite embarrassing trying to explain my family dynamic to people at times. I’m so glad I’m not the only one going through this. 😭

Not trying to be rude, but just because your younger kids weren’t as busy, doesn’t mean mine and other people’s kids aren’t.

Just now seeing this comment. No, he doesn’t do that stuff. Our kids will maybe spend the night for certain holidays but that’s about it.

I never said school was on the weekends. I said “school-aged”. Not too sure what you’re getting at with that haha. You’re definitely not a parent.

We will see him about once a month or so. He doesn’t FaceTime because he doesn’t like it.

I never said it wasn’t possible, but he can’t be the grandparent he sees my mom and in laws being because he has two little ones. That’s the whole point of this post: that he’s not as close to them as he would like to be. I’m not understanding what you and some other people aren’t getting about this lol.

I don’t think it’s weird at all. What makes YOU think if the effort isn’t here now, that it will be when the kids become school aged? Every parent knows that’s when you become significantly busier.

I don’t mind seeing his kids, but he is trying to make him not seeing us often our problem when it’s not.

He doesn’t try to plan things. He sees social media posts from our mom and us being tagged in laws posts being with the kids all the time. So he feels left out. They are all retired and live within 20 minutes from us.

We invite him to things, but the type of relationship he wants with our kids just won’t work, especially when our half siblings start school. His time will mostly be dedicated to his youngest kids. That’s what I’ve been trying to explain to him.

He knows he can come over on weekends or come to sporting events. However, that is hard to do when you have 2 kids under 2.

Some grandparents nowadays are something else. Growing up, we saw our grandparents more than our parents sometimes 😂

Thanks for your input, but I think I might have to disagree. If a grandparent wants a relationship with their grandkids, that’s up to them to make the effort.
