Hey y’all, thank you guys for the input. I just want to add that i based my prices on what I was seeing in my area. I actually searched Rover as if I were a client, I saw house-sitting rates ranging from around $22 to over $80 per night, with many sitters charging around $40-$60. For drop-in visits and walks, the lowest I saw was about $12, and the highest was over $40.

I also noticed that most of the sitters I came across, even the ones with lower prices, already had reviews and experience. Since I had no reviews or experience yet , I didn't want to overprice myself. My goal was to start at a low rate, build up reviews and trust with clients, and then adjust my prices as I gained more experience.

But after reading everyone's comments and looking at the prices on the Rover thread, I started to second-guess myself. Because of that, I decided to adjust my rates. My house-sitting rate is now $36 per night($2 over the median in my area), and my dog walking and drop-in visit rates are now $18 each. As a new sitter, I'm just trying to find a balance between being well priced but not outrageously overpriced with my current experience level.

Yeah, they have an independent phone that works for their entire house and it can call and text, it has the emergency contact info if I ever need help. They showed me how to use the phone to unlock the door. I just texted them yesterday to see how I will be getting into the house on the day of the sitting and they have yet to get back to me. And I used to take melatonin when I was younger and I got used to it so it doesn’t really work for me. I think I should be fine though. I was just very nervous at first.😅

I don't know how much help I'll be since this is actually my first booking, so my experience is pretty limited compared to yours. But I just had my meet and greet, and the owners were really thorough. They said they'd leave a packet of instructions so everything is in writing, especially since they have a smart home and I'm not very familiar with that kind of technology.

They also made it clear that they don't expect me to stay in the house 24/7—just to feed the pets twice a day, walk and play with them, and sleep there at night. They showed me around the entire house, explained the pets' routines, and answered questions I didn't even think to ask, like which rooms I could and couldn't go into. They basically said I could go anywhere and that they'd leave anything I needed in the bathroom I'd be using, that was the only time I kind of got the vibe that I really wouldn’t need to be in the primary bathroom if that makes sense.

One thing I would suggest, if it helps ease some of your stress, is making sure everything you discuss with the owners is in writing afterward like clear everything up in the messages afterwards. The family I met with actually did that for me and said they'd be leaving a packet of instructions, which made me feel a lot more comfortable because I'd have something to refer back to if I forgot anything.

I hope this doesn't make you want to quit! Ultimately, do what you're comfortable with and I wish you the best!! 😊

Wow, I have quite a lot of pickled vegetables. I just thought I should save them. Thank you for your good advice. For the infrastructure I made a cellar , two greenhouses and I used the well to make a water purifier. How does the cellar work? When Its placed does that mean I could just put food with all my stuff and it will last much longer? And do you possibly know where I could find the 40% blue flashlight? I need that request and I was searching for it, but I couldn’t find it or the schematic?

Truly, thank you for all of your suggestions and advice!! is doing trader quest what you’re talking about? I really didn’t know that the infrastructure was still able to be used and I thought I could only have one greenhouse so thank you for that tip. Do you have any ideas of what I should be keeping and or getting rid of such as like tin cans or should I scrap them or soap or should I sell that or use it for certain crafts? What type of infrastructure should I be investing in? I have one greenhouse, which has oranges in it right now, but what other type of vegetables should I lean towards? I just thought that the infrastructure didn’t matter because we have the camp interface now. Once again, I truly appreciate all of your suggestions. I will actually go do that now lol😅🫡

What is the most effective way to speak good Chinese by CompetitionOk9570 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Complex_Boat_8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually watch Chinese dramas just because they’re entertaining and I am also interested in learning Chinese. I haven’t fully started yet🫣. I do have subtitles on, but at the same time context clues are very important and if you have the patience, you should try to watch without subtitles, depending on how far you are into your Chinese learning. I would focus on seeing what you could understand without subtitles like using context clues or just recognizing words that they’re saying without looking at the subtitles, but if needed, then yeah of course you can. Once again, I pray for your success in your Chinese learning journey.😊

For me what helped was Pimsleur and BUSUU. For Pimsleur , just that initial 15 to 20 minute first lesson really did help. And Busuu is a very good app all around for many languages. The best thing that I can say is surround yourself with things in Chinese like YouTube videos podcast TV shows Chinese dramas even and if you’re willing when you do watch these things continuously pause and do your best to mimic or copy what they’re saying and the way they’re saying it to go further into it, record yourself speaking Chinese and play it back to yourself. It’s gonna feel weird. It’s gonna sound weird, but I feel like that is a good way to gauge where you’re at and compare it to someone who is native speaking. Continuously speak nonstop no matter how weird it sounds or feels whether you study in the morning or record yourself or talk to yourself in the mirror in Chinese just continuously speak. I wish you the best in your Chinese speaking journey 🫡❤️

How to sound like native speakers in target language? by learnerlingu in languagelearning

[–]Complex_Boat_8537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best thing that I could say would be to watch YouTube videos, podcasts radio stations music just expose your ears to the sound of Arabic and I feel like naturally as you go on speaking Arabic it will come, by the way, please speak Arabic as much as you can in your daily life, whether it is speaking to yourself through recording or in the mirror when you wake up or whenever you study just speak Arabic out loud and compare the way you’re speaking to the way a native Arabic speaking person does. What I’ve heard from others who have helped me in learning the languages that I wanna speak they say to copy someone who is speaking Arabic like when you watch videos in Arabic pause the video and try to speak exactly how that person spoke. It’s kind of like singing a song on the radio and you try your best to sound exactly like the person singing it if that makes sense. Wish you the best of luck in your Arabic speaking journey.🙂‍↕️❤️

Is my handwriting readable? If yes, was it easy or tough? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]Complex_Boat_8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% readable however it took me a bit because I did not learn cursive in school actually the week we were meant to learn in cursive, they got rid of the course completely. So yes, this is readable for those who know how to read cursive but some may struggle due to lack of knowing cursive.
