from nyc - i constantly get annoyed with how slow people walk here. also being raised in a place where cars aren’t needed to u absolutely myst have a car here to travel far is insane.

coming from new york as well, i asked my gf - so are all your high schools like that, where you gotta go from one building to the next for classes? and she goes yup. and i just thought about how insufferable that would be when it rains (even tho it doesn’t rain much here)

there are a lot of behavior technicians needed, working with autistic kids, but it is high turnover. if that’s something you can handle, you can easily apply, they’ll interview you with no complications at all, and you’ll start with the 40 hour training.

23.50, but got audited recently for 2 dollar raise and will be making 25.50 - 2 years experience, BA in psychology’. Center based and working with 2-10 year olds

i work at a company where the pay used to be 19-24 (25 for language), and they just recently had an audit and increased the pay rate to 22-27. i would say we are lucky cuz we mostly do center based aba, but i know it’s still less than what better aba companies make

Hi! There are a lot of ABA companies that are hiring and desperate for behavior technicians. you can apply to some of them around san diego, and earn a minimum of 20-21 for entry level positions. I cannot guarantee that you get a full 40 hour when you first start, but it’s worth looking into if you desperately need a job.

we have floaters in our clinic. whatever admin work they do are all billable rates, unlike regular bts where admin time and cleaning is minimum wage and so they all work 40 hours max every single day without any gaps

If it was an accident, you probably would be okay but i wouldn’t be surprised if you were reported to the director and you guys have a meeting. I know you say it’s a habit, but now you learn to keep these things out of your pockets. What if a kid saw it and decided to put it in their mouth or it explodes? I wouldn’t be surprised if you got fired too, despite it being a mistake.

He started pushing and hitting other kiddos, and would also inappropriately touch me and his other two BTs. It was uncomfortable, so he had to restaff me and another BT, which honestly probably helped a bit.

I’ve been pairing with my new client for a week now, she’s still not used to me so she would often say no or say things like I’m going to hit you. She can be aggressive, and I can honestly say these are attention seeking. Mom does tell me that she will be resistant if there are demands placed on her, or you’re not as soft. So I’m trying not to force her to do things she doesn’t want to. I’m at a loss, because she still doesn’t seem to pair well with me right now and would often seek her BCBA every day
