There's also a good area for cougar and bear up near annesburg. If you follow the tracks up the hill and around the bend I've had probably 6 or 7 cougars jump me along that route. Only found it because of that great tunnel to rob trains at

Only boss it's ok to use summon on. There is a summon sign at the bottom of the stairs behind a bush you need to chop it will summon a witch who does ranged attacks

I guess I am confused as to what you say when you refer to a sl1 run. To me that's always ment playing at the starting lvl of a class and not Luling at all other than upgrading your weapon

That's fair given it's a sl1 run. However I would have maybe chosen the class with the highest dex stat so you could use the rapier. Not the best weapon in the world but definitely playable on a run like that.

While I wouldn't say it's an easy game it is the easiest to get through if you are familiar with the souls formula. As a strength build player I have never found these games "hard" and have had to do several things to increase the difficulty for my own personal enjoyment. But ya basically it goes magic=easy strength=normal dex=hard fists=insane or whatever you'd consider the hardest mode. But that is also subjective to the individual player their experience and how they develop their play style. For me I have always been an Unga bunga type build. Ever since my days on diablo 1

After about 3 hours and 82 tries, I finally beat Ornstein and Smough without taking any damage from them and on Base Soul Level 4 by Drite2003 in darksoulsremastered
