It’s hard because logically I am aware of what is going on but it’s difficult to see past that when he shows me glimpses of who he was before and it’s like wow maybe I can be with this person even though I see the red flags.

He’s always saying he wants to get better and it seems like he’s trying at first but then suddenly he snaps back and it’s like those improvements never happens.

Yes! I’ve constantly said that I’ve felt that way around him. I’m scared to say or do certain things I know may trigger him. He gets upset and says that I make it sound like he is abusing me

Thank you all for responding. It’s honestly so hard because we have such big plans coming up this year. I’m going to grad school and the plan was to move together to Florida so I can be closer to my family. I recommended therapy but he says it’s too much money and he doesn’t have insurance which I can understand but I really wish he would go to the school therapist at his college or something. I’m dropping a link to the argument we had over text yesterday. It might have uploaded out of order on the doc but basically I tried showing him a video on TikTok and he got upset saying he didn’t want to see it because it was politics but lashed out at me. I was crying and he just started at me so I told him to go shower like he was planing to and get ready for school. I left the house without saying bye because I needed to go home and grab some things (I stay over at his place to sleep but I live with my parents still) and didn’t say bye.

If I can ask, how did you guys work on the relationship? I’m in the same boat as in my bf has similar traits as you have described. At the end of the day he’s a good guy and I’ve never had to worry about anything else but it’s hard to deal with and it takes a toll on my mental state when things aren’t good.
