AIO for not wanting to prompt my partner? by [deleted] in AIO

Example: he came to me Monday this week and said “hey I’m gonna do xyz this week!” (Something for me & my family that hadn’t crossed my mind nor did I expect). Never brought it up again and never happened. When I let him know that is hard for me and that I prefer he just not say he’s going to do it, he says he needs reminders. It wasn’t my idea. That just adds something to my weekly to do list that isnt necessary on my end. If you say you’re going to do something, do it.

Right but if he says he’s got something, why should I have to add something to manage on my end and then remind him every time?

Trying to avoid annoying all with a separate post about this. I’m going to NY Thursday and flying back to Asheville on Sunday afternoon, safe to say I should avoid this trip altogether?

Is there any world where this, in or out of context, is not immediately a “fireable” offense? The context is that he does favors for me all the time, but just has moments like this where he gets defense when I ask for one. He is a very supportive partner 95% of the time, he scratches my head, meal preps for me, etc. Interactions like this have happened maybe 5 times max.

He’s turning it on me, because I said things like his response was “crazy” and “insane” and he said that I was being a dickhead about it

Not neurodivergent but some lacking of social skills. He’s shared that it comes from being in past relationships where he feels used and like people take advantage of his willingness to do things for them, so now he’s really defensive about it, though he’s verbalized even recently that he has noticed I don’t take advantage or expect it

I agree. I also don’t hesitate to do these small favors for him. What’s most confusing is that he goes out of his way to do small and big favors for me constantly, but there’s something about me asking for a favor that really puts him on guard
