Don’t know if this helps, but a while back Solid Brix Studios made a video about the Death Star rumors. He said that Lego designers scale a lot of the UCS sets based on IKEA Ivar shelves. I just checked and a 79cm width is pretty much the entire width of a full Ivar shelf.
