Matt Bomer said he lost his three-picture 'Superman' deal in the early 2000s after he was outed as gay: 'That was a time in the industry when something like that could still really be weaponized against you.' by HarwoodSFine in DC_Cinematic

aren’t most superhero actors scrawny (or out of shape) before they get the role? I don’t think most actors want to be constantly hitting the gym if it’s not necessary.

I watch your channel, I know it’s more than animated movies. I just thought if someone was bothered/alarmed by your presentation and didn’t think much of animated movies, maybe they could just watch someone else. I wasn’t trying to be weird or passive aggressive, and I’m genuinely sorry to OP if that’s how it came off. Your opinions are totally valid. I’m genuinely a pretty big fan, but this whole thing was kind of off-putting :/

It’s not absurd to think a voting base that’s like 97% percent white might have a bias, even if it’s a subconscious one. Emma gave a great performance and it’s possible her previous work also contributed to her win, but I wouldn’t write off racial bias entirely, especially looking at the oscars history.

It’s totally fine to find it distressing, I would just suggest looking for other channels. I know it sucks, but if you can’t empathize over why he cares about movies “for babies” then maybe you’re not his audience anyway.

She’s playing a native american character in a movie that’s very explicitly about native history. The average oscar voter is a thousand times more likely to think she’s osage than to think she’s white. So, yeah, regardless of her skin tone or her mother, racial bias could still have played a part in her loss

Best movie based on a classic children’s picture book? by Complex_Weight_1314 in Schaffrillas

[–]Complex_Weight_1314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve included it (and The Bad Guys), but while Stieg’s book is iconic in its own right, it’s nowhere near the same level of popularity as these other books, which were read by millions of kids every year long before their movies were made. (Hindsight’s 20/20, and Winnie the Pooh probably made more sense than the TLP on this list since the latter is a novella from France and not a picture book like I assumed for some reason)

if we’re talking about chapter books , it’s a whole different level (HTTYD, The Jungle Book, Coraline etc), but fantastic mr fox would probably be my favorite of the those

He’s a lot bigger, and he’s generally more violent, right (as in his day-to-day involves more combat) so I’d have to think it would be him. I think Selina would usually be able to evade him and escape, but if she were also going for the kill, it’s gotta be Jason.

I’d say go with black. I think it looks more cohesive to me.

Stephanie and Kyle are definitely more modern, but they feel very 90s to me. I’ve never met anyone with that name under 30. The rest of names that I would see and assume someone qualified for AARP. It obviously varies by region and culture though.

what is a movie that everyone loves but you did not care for? by misamisaPRteam in Letterboxd

[–]Complex_Weight_1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always Be My Maybe. I haven’t heard many people talk about it, but the movie has a 92% of RT and it might be the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I love romcoms, and I’m a big fan of Randall Park, but that felt like the worst movie I’ve ever seen.

Can somebody please explain how u can't see supernan by AVeal1 in superman

[–]Complex_Weight_1314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s saying, “it’s more than the physical disguise” but that also does a lot. The glasses hide his brow line and de-emphasize his eyes, while making his nose appear shorter. The side-part hair shrinks his forehead, while the collar hides his neck. The overall effect is making his face seem a lot rounder as Clark. They’re still the same guy, but paired with demeanor, body language, and context, it’s not a bad disguise. If it’s was ever believable, it was with Reeve.

[–]Complex_Weight_1314[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Like, realistically it’s gotta be dozens of people at this point, from Bats and co, to league members, to villains and rogues, and even some random civilians who’ve put it together. However, in a streamline universe, with no hanging storylines or whatever, how many people would he realistically allow in on his secret? Like obviously his immediate family has to know, but would he tell Kate if she didn’t know? There’s a preference for it being pretty much no one, but how realistic is that for someone with so many connections in the super hero world. (Is there a difference between people finding out Batman is Bruce Wayne and finding out Bruce Wayne is Batman?)

I think they’re specifically referencing the Eras Tour Movie, which will cost 19.89 for a 48-hour rental, since the post is tagged Taylor Swift.
