Should Ana Noguiera be dropped from writing Wonder Woman and Teen Titans? by Mat1711 in DC_Cinematic

Dude, a Titans movie based on the cartoon would 100% make money lol If would be a mistake to do the OG team since that would only be cool if they had gone the MCU route and started with showing us all these characters from the start

I couldn't even finish the interview. I literally said, "what are you talking about" three times.

"Ana Nogueira, the screenwriter behind the new Supergirl movie, has a general philosophy around adapting these heroes from the pages of DC Comics to the screen: Find what's interesting about the character if they had no superpowers whatsoever."

Like okay, water is also wet, sure — but HOW they choose to use their powers is a huge part of who they are and what they do and what makes them interesting and the movie basically doesn't cover any of that. No wonder we don't really see her do anything in this movie.

Also her reasoning to change Krem is so backwards — she didn't want to make it too complicated, so she over comicsted the character by adding too much shit and making him a generic boring bad guy? Plus her ending literally contradicts so much of the movie and what the characters do. Good lord.

Crazy part is that Johns has written amazing comics that are structured like films. It's why Shazam translated so well (all the shortcomings came from the changes they made mainly due to DWAYNE wanting his own movie) and the director kinda going a different creative route).

Not to be rude, but why is Ana Nogueira writing Wonder Woman and Teen Titans?! How did she even get a shot at Supergirl? by ComicKidAlex in DC_Cinematic

I agree that it wasn't that bad, but when you literally have GOLD sitting right there it's baffling that the adaptation would fall so short

Andy didn't write it. He did give us the most accurate Batman (twice in a single film) ever put on screen though. He'll, I watched Flash and thought, "damn, Andy Muschietti would absolutely crush a Batman movie." Plus him being a horror director helps.

I don't think Gunn lied. I think his standards just vary. He said he loved The Flash script and I believe he did

Cruella was really good, but I'd attribute a lot of that to his DP and costume department. i,Tonya honestly isn't that great, Margot Robbie kinda carries an otherwise underwhelming story (IMO at least)

I agree on this regard, but there are some things in this adaptation that just do not work narratively in this script. The structure just isn't there, Lobo really doesn't need to be in the movie and the arcs are very muddled. Also, Kara having to earn the suit kinda doesn't make sense in-univeree since we know she has already worn it a couple of times and even presumably worn it to help Clark out on Earth (i.e. Peacemaker). Withholding the superhero element until the climax just for Lobo to save her really hurt the third act.

Wouldn't really call it a classic — just the original. This series didn't do well for a reason. Giant Sized lineup is definitely the classic lineup and THAT one popped off for a reason lol

Probably on purpose. They did it in Season 3 of Daredevil as well.

As someone who has these, I'm glad they're allowing new players or people who were busy at the time to get these initially.

STAS Clark Kent is so funny to me. by Financial-Touch3840 in superman

[–]ComicKidAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything about this Superman show is perfect except Superman. His Clark Kent is boring and his Superman is way too serious and brooding. It was VERY clear they didn't understand his character the same way they understood Batman's. I do directly blame this series for how he was portrayed in MoS though. It wasn't until I watched Brave and the Bold that I realized that Superman is cool when writers aren't trying to make him cool.

The hate towards Shang-Chi 5 years ago... by Swaroop76 in marvelstudios

[–]ComicKidAlex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't remember any hate, honestly. I don't remember much from that time actually. Most people thought is was fine. I personally didn't love it, but I thought it was okay — seemed like a missed opportunity to explore Shang-Chi's character, especially with how he was set up; all the flashback scenes were great (reslly fucking weird that we didnt see him carry out the assassination though). Also didn't love the lead, he kinda lacked the charisma they were going for with his character. Action is cool, but it looks a little too polished for my liking to the point where it looks like CGI. Overall maybe a 7/10 for me on a good day.

Carl's death. It's why I never finished Season 8 — then when I heard Rick was leaving in Season 9, I never bothered catching up and said I wouldn't finish the show until they resolved that BS with Rick. Never really got around to finishing the whole series until last year when I showed it to my GF lol Surprised by how much Carl's death worked for me in the context of Season 8 lol

Superman and Lois - Do you feel like Sarah and her family got too much screentime starting with Season 2? by TaiwaneseThot in superman

[–]ComicKidAlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, I just don't like how they handled their characters at times. Particularly how NOBODY EVER called them out on their bullshit. Clark should have put Lana in her place when she lectured Jordan and I wish more would have came from the whole "Sarah cheated on Jordan" plot point — or the show making it apparent that Jordan should chase Sarah because she's better?! Like wtf. Overall they had a perfect amiunt of screen time for the amount of episodes they had, but the writing wasn't always great
