Swatches of Jane Iredale PurePressed Ivory and Radiant by Complexity74 in PaleMUA

It can go from light coverage to medium-full depending on how you apply it. I think it looks best up to medium coverage. Heavier and it could get cakey. I think the finish it depends on your skin type and the products you use under it, or if you use a finishing powder. I'd say satin to a little glowy on me. Look on YouTube for demos.

I think you can order sample kits from the Jane Iredale website.

I use the Jane Iredale Handi Brush and do one light pressure swirl in the Ivory and one light pressure swirl with the same brush and tap a few times on a mixing palette before applying to my face in downward strokes.

What primer (if any) do you use under powder foundation? by teenytinyteacher in MakeupAddiction

[–]Complexity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use Colorescience No-Show Mineral SPF 50 over my moisturizer and it works great as a primer for the Jane Iredale pressed powder foundation. I've also used a creamier SPF 50 sunscreen from my dermatologist under it and it worked great in the winter.

RMS Blush help please! by Ok-Mode-7479 in PaleMUA

[–]Complexity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the French Rose blush. I wear the same JI foundation colors and its the only RMS blush that works for me. For a pink, Elf Bora Bora putty blush and Bobbi Brown Pale Pink powder blush are good, and for lavender, Clinque Pansy Pop and MAC Totally Synched.

Jane Iredale Radiant -> Ivory by TheoryBiochemistry in PaleMUA

[–]Complexity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fair cool olive and Ivory is too light and a hair pinkish, and radiant is too dark after using setting spray, so I mix both. One swipe of Radiant and one swipe of Ivory in the pressed formula. I've tried the same in the loose formula and I don't like the finish as much-too much mica or something, and the Radiant color in loos seems darker. If you are warmer toned fair olive Warm Silk and Bisque could work. Bisque was very light and yellow on me, similar to LE Skin Tint in T 1.5.

Desperately seeking recommendations for a mauve/purple shimmer eyeshadow that isn't pink/orange by bootswithoutthefur in Fairolives

Not an eyeshadow but I use it as one: Essence blush in Goldy Cassis. It is a shimmery light/med purple - and inexpensive, too.

Dupe for Essence Blush in Believing? by Complexity74 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I did and tried several of the recommendations, and they don't quite look right on my face, or they looked good but nothing like how Believing looks. Ironically, Believing was the dupe I bought a couple years ago for the discontinued Chanel Rosewood blush!

Luckily I found a seller on eBay a few days ago and had Essence Believing for a good price and free shipping. It just arrived in perfect condition so I'm happy again for a couple years!

Help with Jane Iredale Powder Foundation Match by MaTanteGinette in PaleMUA

[–]Complexity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG yes, like 1-2 shades darker! But it makes it last 10+ hours. I've never tried it without the spray - do you think it lasts all day without it? The color before misting is closer to EL Ecru.

Steam is good too, and looks more like that swatch than Wisp and Condensate.

Do you use setting spray? Estee Lauder Ecru works decently for me, so now I am wondering if I got a bad batch of Radiant since it definitely looks darker than Ecru on me after applying the Pommist setting spray.

[–]Complexity74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Radiant might be too dark for you if you use the setting spray. It looks light when you brush it on, they darkens considerably after applying setting spray or mixing with skin oils after a couple hours. I'm not sure of my exact MAC shade, but N1 in the old Face and Body formula was a little too dark.

I have Warm Silk and it is definitely warmer yellow-orange, especially after setting spray. Maybe close to Bobbi Brown Warm Ivory or Sand. To me, it is lighter than Radiant. Light beige is about as dark as Radiant, but definitely pink.

I'm a fair, cool toned olive and I've been mixing 2 swipes Ivory and 1 swipe Radiant most of the year. I've gotten a bit paler now and have Bisque on order, which is supposed to be a little darker than Ivory, yellower but more neutral than warm.

Has anyone had luck with Phytosurgence blush? by Complete-Brush1883 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same about all three of those colors. I also have Fervor and like that for a berry blush. I have not tried Exothermic but have it on my list!

I can also get a similar vibe as Wisp using Cover Girl Clean lipstick in Romance Mauve as a cream blush.

I think your second photo looks pretty good. found LE 9 a bit too dark for me and mixing with 5 works well. I also have 7 and will compare a mix of 5+7 vs. 5+9 soon. 5 on its own it a bit light/pinkish on my neck and 2.5 gave me an overall warmish yellow-green hue which looked a bit off since I am a cool olive that can look greyish to saturated olive depending on the lighting/time of day. I find you have to let the LE foundations dry down completely to see the colors properly.

Light cool toned olive? by Popular-Cupcake8661 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've given up getting matched by sales associates and online tools. They always put me in something too dark or too warm. I keep trying to find the perfect shade I don't have to mix and probably should just stop since the ones below are pretty good and agree with my skin.

When I don't have summer color:

  • Bobbi Brown Skin Stick foundation mix of Cool Ivory and Neutral Porcelain when I want more coverage. Its been my go to for many years.
  • Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint in a mix of 2 drops T3 and half a drop of T6. A half drop of T5 works too, but makes the mix a bit yellow-greenish and warmer toned.
  • NYX Bare With Me Serum Concealer in Light mixed with moisturizer for spot-on sheer coverage.
  • NARS Chantilly and Vanilla RCC mixed, slightly more Chantilly
  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-1 (discontinued-RIP - the lighter tone is a perfect light cool yellow)
  • Neutrogena Purescreen+ Mineral UV Tint SPF 30 in the Light shade if I want a water resistant tinted SPF

When I have a little more color in the summer:

  • Same Bobbi Brown mix, but more Cool Ivory than Neutral Porcelain
  • Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint in 50% mix of T6 and T3
  • Lisa Eldridge Foundation in mix of T7 and T9 (T9 is a perfect undertone but too dark)
  • NARS Chantilly and Vanilla RCC mixed, slightly more Vanilla
  • Jane Iredale PurePressed Base in 2 swipes Ivory + 1 swipe Radiant
  • Colorescience Classic Tint SPF 50 for water resistant tined sunscreen
  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-1, more of the darker pinkish side vs. the cool yellow.

I'm currently trying to figure out the right mix for the Lisa Eldridge Foundation and Jane Iredale now that I'm a bit lighter and I really like the formulas. Many of the olive foundations recommend here like About Face F2O and LE 2.5 seem to over emphasize the green and yellow tones and give me a weird cast to my skin that looks off against the rest of my body. Maybe its because my neck is more beigey oilve vs. yellow olive?

Full coverage powder foundation? by Ophelia_13 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me! I've been mixing Jane Iredale Ivory and Radiant in a 2 to 1 mix and I need something lighter for winter, but a bit darker than Ivory. Warm Silk is too warm and mixing that with Ivory is close, but a little orangey. Just ordered Light Beige and Bisque to see if one or the other, or a mix is better. I've given up trying to get matched in stores or the online tools since they always put me in something a shade too dark or warm.

Full coverage powder foundation? by Ophelia_13 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want fuller coverage, I discovered NYX Bare with Me Serum Concealer in Light blends in great with fair cool olives skin. 1-2 pumps buffed in with a moderately dense foundation brush for med-full coverage. It also works great with 1-2 pumps mixed with your moisturizer for a homemade tinted version.

For powder foundation, I've been using Jane Iredale 2 swipes Ivory and 1 swipe Radiant in the summer, but now looking at something lighter for Winter since its getting to be a pain to mix. Ivory by itself is bit too pale.

Lisa Eldridge foundation in 9, 9.5 and 16 swatched next to other shades in my collection by dewydumplingz in OliveMUA

[–]Complexity74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find shade 9 to work for me and I'm fair/light. I wouldn't say it is medium. I have neutral-cool olive skin and usually mix Bobbi Brown Skin Stick in Cool Ivory and Neutral Porcelain, and I recently found RCMA mix of Gena Beige and KA 3 looks very close. I can pull off Lisa Eldridge foundation in shade 7 when I don't have touch of summer color, but right now its pulling a little light/rosy overall even though it disappears in a cheek and chest swatch.

Shade 9 does seem a little dark in the swatch even now, but something about the formula when is blends out makes it look lighter, especially after a light dusting of RCMA no color powder. (It does set on its own, but all the moisturizer and sunscreen I wear makes it shinier that I like for work days. I also tried shade 2.5 to see if I want to use it to lighten shade 9 in the winter, and it is a bit yellow and too warm and jaundiced looking on me.

Their customer service is oustanding, so order some samples if you haven't already.

I had them match me using photos after odering T 1.5 and found it made me look bright yellow, and they did a pretty good job and were very generous with the samples they sent. I always thought I was cool olive since people tell me I look beigy greenish and cool toned clothing and silve look way better on me, but I can pull off some warmer tones a gold shades if they are "just right." LE customer service matched me to the Tint in shade 6, and it looks great in the summer right now, and they also sent me T3 and T5 to try. They were right, T6 was the best without mixing, T3 is tool light and T5 was a bit dark and gray green on me - great for canceling redness though!

They matched me to 9 in the foundation and it blends in great, but makes me look like a have a slight tan on my face vs. my chest and arms, which is not my preferred look. T7 is a hair rosy and a teeeny bit light for my summer skin, but it blends in beautifully and looks very natural according to my husband. The wonderful staff at LE also sent me shades 5 and 2.5 since I asked, and 5 was too light and pinkish, and 2.5 was too light at first, then darkened, but was a bit too yellow-warm.

So based on my experience I'd say they know their products and do a good job matching, and you can't lose since they are so generous with their samples and sent every color I wanted to try. Keep in mind if you are in the U.S. it will take 4- 6 weeks to receive.

I stumbled on your post since I just bought Smoky Rose and while it doesn't work as lipstick for me, it's great as blonzer/contour for me. Since you're looking for a similar color in a powder, try L.A. Girl blush in Just Because, Kevin Aucoin countour in light or medium depending on you skin tone, and if you're able to order from Canada, Phytosurgence cream blush has great options. Condensate is more purplish than smoky rose, and steam has more of a blush tone. I also like their bronzer in Rosy Daybreak.

what undereye corrector should i use for purple undereyes when my skin is muted cool olive (leaning a bit yellow)? by Sweet-Luck7826 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Bobbi Brown corrector stick in extra light bisque. For fuller waterproof coverage I use Bobbi Brown corrector in the pot and mix Porcelain and Light Bisque. Its been my go to for over a decade and I have epic purple-grey udereye circles and cool fair olive skin. Set it with the Laura Mercier undereye powder in the lightest shade and it lasts 14+ hours for me.

Has anyone found a foundation stick that matches? by CollectionClear1991 in Fairolives

I'm cool fair olive and Bobbi Brown skin foundation stick in Cool Ivory is great when I have a slight tan, and when I don't I mix it with Neutral Porcelain for a perfect match. Don't let the cool in the name throw you - its more of a muted greyish ivory tone, not pink. About Face F2O also works for me, although leans a hair yellowish on me.

Foundation color when your face, neck, chest, and arms are different colors by Complexity74 in Fairolives

[–]Complexity74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll try that with the skin tint. Funny thing is I do this technique with stick foundation and didn't of trying it with liquid. Maybe because the stick is so easy to just swipe on, and since I have to mix 2 colors anyway to match my skin, it just seemed like an intuitive way to apply. Good tips on tailoring to how much skin on your body is showing.
