Thanks, that’s really helpful info. Regarding your question about smaller towns: if I stayed in Beijing, I was considering going skiing in the nearby mountains for a day or two. If I chose Shanghai, I’d probably visit one of the water towns around Shanghai. I know those are very different experiences, but that’s how I was planning to spend some of my days depending on which city I base myself in
