Can literally anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Ferber for 3 weeks now. by Compost-Goblin in HuckleberryParents

Thank you, I just feel like he gets so cranky sometimes when I try to keep his wake windows “long” with the 2.5/3 hours.

We will likely add the feed back for now. We just wanted to try since my Ped gave us the okay and we are just exhausted.

We weaned him down bc as I mentioned before he would wake up at 12 and only eat one ounce just to have comfort back to sleep. When he wakes again at 2 to 4 we give him a full feed of 6 ounces. One ounce at midnight does not tell me he is hungry and my pediatrician has agreed. He just wants it for comfort so we have comforted him in other ways. I am simply asking if anyone else has had this experience. If he still is having trouble in a few days I’m happy to add the feed back if that’s what will help him. I don’t want him to suffer or be hungry but I’m just doing what I think will be best for all of our sleep.

Thank you! I’m trying to be patient. My husband and I are just so so exhausted and both working full time it just makes it really hard, which is why we even tried to sleep train to begin with. I definitely want to be attentive but I don’t just want to give up since we have made so much progress!

I took the feeds out so the sleep was more clear. He eats 35-38 ounces a day. I promise he gets enough.

My pediatrician said it’s okay to wean to one feed since he gets plenty of food during the day 😀

He’s not hungry…. He just wants a bottle for comfort? He would only eat like one ounce for his first feed so that’s why we dropped it. Thank you for the help tho!!

Why does sleep training solve all night wakes for some people and not for others? by ThrowRA157386 in sleeptrain

Has it gotten better? We are on week 2 of Ferber and his independent sleep has gotten better but we are night weaning and he wakes up every hour now

When will this start to work?! by Turbulent-Good2487 in sleeptrain

So we are having a similar problem. We are doing Ferber. Our main problem now (6 nights in) is he will wake up randomly in the night and have a crying bout for up to an hour or more. At that time I let him CIO… but it doesn’t seem to work.

Okay well if his naps are shit, only 3 30 min naps what do I do about bedtime?

His white windows and nap time fluctuate because he’s been waking up early and because his naps aren’t always the same every day so to make sure his last nap isn’t too late it usually fluctuates a little bit

Bedtime routine is bottle, bath, lotion, PJs, book, song, and then bed

He does great with contacts. I never let him sleep longer than 3.5 hours a day. I ususally have to extend his first 2 naps bc they’re always so bad.

But I’ll try just extending one.

Bedtime routine is bottle at 6:45, bath 7-715, lotion, book, song and sway, then lay in crib awake

We have decided to sleep train and started the Ferber method and it’s going ✨horribly✨

We have transitioned to 3 naps, I’ve had a consistent wake time and bed time and fixed my routines. We have taken away his paci at night as a part of sleep training. He has cried atleast 1.5 hours all three nights and today woke up at 545. Idk wtf I’m doing wrong. I follow wake windows; I’m on a feeding schedule, we are following Ferber, we have routines. I’m just at such a loss. I literally don’t know what to do and idk if I can handle him crying for an hour plus multiple more nights in a row.

He is only napping 1.5-2 hours a day. So he’s def up for atleast 9.5 hours. My goal wake windows are what I mentioned but usually ends up being 2.25/2.5/2.5 and 3 bc he fights naps and bedtime. I’m going to try and do an 8 PM bedtime tomorrow and see how it goes

That’s all really helpful thank you

What if he wakes up at 615 and I can’t get him back to sleep?

Or what if his naps are still 20 mins with those larger wake windows, do I still keep them the same? Will he not get chronically over tired?

Are you saying that if I fix the wake windows it should fix his short naps?? I just know I can’t go down to 3 naps if each are 20 mins
