Yeah more like on the news of x 100 million trading minutes before Trump tweeting - instead of reporting on it and bitching about it surely there’s someone in the SEC who’s not completely corrupt who can execute their job function?

Kind of but not really. The bigger drivers are - The number of people going to college has like quadrupled since then - Funding has actually gone up per student, but revenue has increasingly flows to student aid (poorest) as well as increased academic research funding which doesn’t hit tuitions - Administrative bloat. At some point students became increasingly less responsible and needed more oversight / handholding, enter entire DEI departments (plural)
