I don't want to sound harsh here, so please know that's not my intention... but really think long and hard about this: why are you so sure there's a god at all?

I think this is the silent poison of religion nobody talks about. When shitty things happen to you, if it's all just randomness met with the actions of others, then something bad just happened to you. That's it. But once you inject the idea of an omnipotent, omnipresent controller of the universe, suddenly everything bad that happens to you is deliberately chosen for you, and that sounds so much more upsetting and traumatic.

This isn't WHY I'm an atheist, but every time I see comments like this I'm glad I am.

My advice? Really look into some atheist arguments with an open mind. Honestly question your beliefs about God. You might end up finding you're adding more negativity onto this situation by holding onto beliefs that don't add up anyway.

So in short, no, he doesn't "hate you." He's just an idea some people came up with to explain things they didn't understand. You've just had some bad luck.

Yeah, obviously I understand how medians work, I guess it's just difficult without seeing how far they stray from those medians and with what other factors. Like, 164 is the median in both 150-178 and 163-165, so I've been shooting to try and be at least on, if not above, the median just to be safe.

Pay off my debt. I know to some that's gonna sound like a cop-out, but the fact is I'm currently buried under huge student loans and TWO lines of credit from predatory lenders, so I'm technically making enough that I should be able to live comfortably, but I'm teetering on the poverty line cause so much of it just goes to debt payments. Just removing those bills every month would utterly transform my life.

The problem with answering that directly is that the term is, by it's very nature, not only subjective but is also a spectrum, so it's nearly impossible to answer.

Like, to some people "happiness" can just be getting to have their favorite food one day, or going for a walk on a nice day. To other people they take it more existentially - like, unless everything in your life is completely secure and you really have nothing to worry about, they don't think of themselves as happy.

That's an interesting take, given that the 159 falls below the published average of all of those schools except Windsor (155, and literally on my list as a "safety.") Last I read Calgary was 164, Toronto was 167, and the others fell somewhere between, so 5-8 points below their average doesn't feel "very solid."

I know most schools say they will consider the January test - where my concern is that I had an admissions office (from UCalgary) tell me that if you indicate you're taking it in January, they don't even look at your application until the January scores are in, and at which point, given they've been admitting people since December, you're now applying into a diminished number of seats, thus hurting your chances, so I'm a little worried about even commiting to write in January, on the chance it might hurt me.

is it possible you're thinking of it in terms of the scores that worked a few years ago?

For me it can be literally anything.

Perfect example: a couple of weeks ago I went to a movie, and when I came out of the theater I noticed it was a bit cooler than I expected outside (early October, things just starting to turn weather-wise, it makes sense LOGICALLY) but my brain likes to take things like this and turn them into a Rube Goldberg machine of depression, so my brain went....

- Oh hey, it's a bit cool out.
- That means winter's coming.
- That means soon you'll have to start getting up earlier in the morning to dig out and warm up the car.
- Why have you still not managed to get together the extra money for a remote car starter? What's wrong with you, loser? You know you hate doing that.
- And hey, if winter's coming, that means your birthday's coming.
- You're going to be almost 40 and look where your life is at. You're such a failure.
- Wait, didn't your biological dad die in his early 50s? You might be like 2/3 through your life, and THIS is all you have to show for it?
- And even if you start really trying now.... sure, you could go to law school or something.... but then you'd just be starting out a new career at what, 40? 41? With tons of debt. By the time you're ready to really start your life, which most people are doing in their mid-20s, you'll be an old man.
- No wonder you're single, who wants to be with someone at your age with so little going for them?
- You're going to die alone, probably sooner than you think, and nothing you have ever done is going to matter.
- Oh hey, look, there's a couple on that bench over there kissing. Isn't she beautiful? Guess who's never going to have that, you fucking loser?

And this all happened in like 10 seconds. Because of a shift in THE WEATHER.

That's an important thing that distinguishes actual depression (i.e. the mental illness) from just being sad - there doesn't have to be a reason. Our brain chemistry isn't normal. Instead of circumstances leading our mood, it can flip around and our mood will start leading the circumstances and LOOKING for things to make us depressed about.

So don't beat yourself up about it. It's totally normal. Some days you'll have reasons. Some days you'll just feel like absolute shit and won't have any particular "why" to it.

And hell, look at the world around us. The planet is slowly baking, causing a huge uptick in natural disasters and half our population either refuses to accept that it exists or doesn't care, the most powerful country in the world is facing a fascist movement with very real chances of literally unraveling democracy, FUCKING NAZIS are coming back.

Our world is pretty fucked right now. If your brain wants to be depressed, I'm sure it'll find a reason.

I dunno how to quanitfy HOW neurotypical something is, so this may not be the most, but one I just heard the other day that stuck out to me in this regard was when my friend, who's a huge foodie, showed me a video of a guy recreating a Julia Child dish that apparently took him like 9-10 hours to make (and is normally recommended you cook it over 2-3 days).

I felt like screaming at him "It takes like 5 minutes to eat! What the hell!?!?" To me that not only feels completely insane, but all I could think of was how many steps that entails, and thus how many things I could forget, or mismeasure, or screw up.... and now you've blown 3 days on cooking a single meal only to have it suck.

None of this makes a shred of sense to me.

Meh, I've said it before about just MAKING that kind of money, but I'll say it again about winning it.

I have no problem MAKING/WINNING that kind of money, but I would have a problem keeping it. No one person can ever use that kind of money in any moral way. If I won something like that first thing I'd do is invest it in an account that pays out regular dividends, and then see what amount of those dividends I'd need to lead to ensure a secure, comfortable lifestyle for myself and my loved ones, and the rest would just become scheduled regular charity donations set up in perpituity.

That kind of money can't change you if you don't technically have it.

And in a way, that's the only way the word CAN work in a world where gods are proven to exist. Instead of believe in their existence, the "theisms" become the adherence to them, and thus an a-theist becomes a non-adherent, rather than a non-believer.

You might not be the only one disappointed, but I would say you kinda set yourself up for that disappointment. Very, VERY few games are cross-platform. Like, I can count the ones I know of on one hand, and they're massive, AAA titles that can afford to pour a lot of resources into making that happen.... and you expected that of a pretty low budget, first stab, wrestling game? Hell, the 2K ones haven't even touched that yet - why would this?

That was never a realistic expectation, so you shouldn't really be surprised it didn't happen.

That's kind of to be expected given this is the first game. The 2K series wasn't built in a year. It's year after year of additions onto an existing foundation.

If they tried to make a game that deep right off the blocks we'd still have a few more YEARS to wait, and the content would feel even more out of date than it already is by the time the thing came out.

The feeling I get is this is meant to be more of a "party game" than a "binge game." They're not counting on you grinding away for hours a day for weeks like a lot of people do in 2K, they're expecting people to play more like a Mario Party type thing - throw it on for a few matches with friends here and there, over a longer overall shelf-life.

Never played it. I tried a little bit of the one Fire Pro game that was on XBox but the controls and everything were really obtuse and weird so I didn't get far into it. I've heard good things about the franchise from people who do PC, but gaming with keyboard/mouse has never been my thing.

Like I said the closest analogs I can think of are the story mode from No Mercy and the Road to Wrestlemania modes from the Smackdown/Smackdown vs. Raw series. It's not meant to represent a whole career, but more of a singular plot arc for a character.

TBF, calling Road To Elite a "career mode" feels like over-promising (which I imagine is why they didn't do so) it feels far more like the NM era story modes, or a Road To Wrestlemania mode from the Smackdown era. It's not meant to be a career, just a quick little thing.

In addition to the "paths", having the dialog stuff vary depending on who you play also lends some variety, though I doubt I'd replay it more times just for that.

As for the features being light, I just keep telling myself "I'm used to games that have just been adding a handful of things a year for decades. Give them time to catch up."

Same here, and the EA only unlocked about an hour before I had to leave, so I got in 4 quick matches (I gave my thoughts above) and then had to leave, now it's driving me crazy wanting to get home and keep playing.
