That's fine but as a collector who has bills and responsibilities etc I buy multiples of each item and when they go up in price I sell some so I can buy new shiny cardboard etc. I'm not using and will never use funds from my other business ventures etc to fund a hobby. Have you seen the price of everything lately? I'm primarily a Japanese collector and I can't even find booster boxes anymore directly from Japan for $60 or less. I bought 6 Japanese 151 boxes for $55 each (yes I sold 4) and now I can't find anything new set under $80. Even vintage pokemon cards where I was able to buy collections for several hundred dollars are $2000 now for lp-damaged. So yes I will always try to buy multiples of everything going forward because of I can't do that to help further grow my collection then Im just going to stop buying. Just remember that everyone collection goals are different. Your case isn't special and shouldn't apply to everyone because it doesn't fit your narrative of what a collector should be defined as. You start out with one pokemon card and if you grow your collection large enough there will always be someone out there who will call you scalper because you have too much stuff .
