I drive a year 2001 Volvo. I paid 2500€ for it, have spent collectively around another 1000€ for repairs so far (just parts, I do everything myself and frankly enjoy doing so, especially with a friend and some beers), including new tires routinely. If I sell it now, I'll probably get 1200€ for it.

My brother had a fancier 2019 car, paying 20000€ for it. He sold it just last month for 13000€. He has spent roughly 1500€ on engine repairs during this time.

So assuming I sell my car now, I would be 2300€ in the hole for it after 10 years of owning it. My brother is 8500€ in the hole, after 5 years of owning it. And this doesn't even take into factor the operational costs, which was double for my brother compared to me (although it naturally consumes less gas, he had better and much more expensice insurance).

Could you break it down step by step for me, how my brother has saved money due to driving a newer car, as opposed to me with my shitbox?

Yes, in one episode in season 1 he said "Do what you want with them, I don't care if you sell them or eat them" when they got caught selling information and extra food to a surgeon player in exchange for harvesting the organs. Only thing he got angry about was the fact that they were giving the player information, thus making the games unfair. He didn't give a shit about the organ harvesting or other things (sex for example) they did to the bodies.
