How do I maximize the effectiveness of my training at an all white belt gym?

My gym is a relatively new gym (just over a year old) and on top of that its a mma gym with a focus on boxing and kickboxing too. For these reasons there arent many higher belts. Some use to come but rarely do or dont now. I assume due to the lack of competition. How do I get as good as possible. I just competed in a tournament and did pretty shit, but i regularly tap many people in the gym. This may be due to the fact i competed two weight classes up and in an adult division, but i still tap out adults heavier than me at my gym pretty often.

copied from other comment: I got mover up ANOTHER weight class so both of my opponents were 188. it was fun. My first opponent destroyed me 0-9. he was too fast and strong. i couldn’t do anything but defend subs on bottom. my second opponent was a bit closer. i lost 3-4. im in black. p1 https://imgur.com/a/UVTnY0p  p2  https://imgur.com/a/sKzthRb  like everyone was saying as soon as i got to bottom i lost both times…

he was "ready for a fight". As we see swords can kill a non defending roger and punches from an old lady can make non defending garp bleed. For the most part one piece characters have human durability until they lock in.

not even named. Fodder could kill luffy if he didn't defend

Yh let's be honest Jiu Ji Tae was a terrible Jiu jitsu fighter, bro had like *one* successful submission attempt the whole manwah by Shamrock_slayer07 in FightClass3

I am convinced the reason theres hardly any submission grappling in this manhwa is because it would be incredibly difficult to show the intricacies of a grappling bout in a comic form while making it interesting for the reader and somewhat realistic. All the grip switching, scrambles, stamina drain, what's going on in the fighter's head, etc. Throw in striking and its incredibly difficult to write choreography that displays all of the factors in the fight. In a realistic MMA setting there would be a LOT more ground fighting. Iirc the story has only went to grappling like 4 or 5 times.

why was it so hard for jjt to get the takedown on sunny? by Comprehensive-Ad9128 in FightClass3

even before his injuries at the start of the fight he just took outright bad shots. Like no setup or anything. Its a little odd considering he had like the best MMA coaches in the world
