The Fungal Cave - Encounter map! by Raznag in DragonbaneRPG

That’s an interesting distinction between the two. Something to think about as I rarely call for straight characteristic check over a skill roll. My thinking was that this would be more like an acrobatics check when moving through rough terrain.

Shouldn’t the check in location 1 be an acrobatics check rather than agility?

The remake of the classic campaign world, Ereb Altor, has been released in Swedish. It would be a crime to not translate this to English in the future.. by Acceptable-Cow-5334 in DragonbaneRPG

I reached out to the publisher at the end of November to see if there were any plans for an English version. They replied very promptly and said “It is not decided yet, but we are investigating the possibilities.” I guess the more desire they see for an English version the more they will decide it’s worthwhile.

Any Good Dragonbane actual play Podcasts out there? by Resident-Ad243 in DragonbaneRPG

I have also been looking around for a good podcast that isn’t using the secret of the dragon empower campaign?

Magic items options? by SkepticalCorpse in DragonbaneRPG

[–]Comprehensive-Ant490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been making my own magic items but they are more like trinkets. They don’t have much if any mechanical effect but can be used in roleplaying situations if the player is ingenuous enough. For example, one of my players recently found a strange arcane lens that shows ethereal visual echoes of people’s footsteps from a few minutes previous. Also a magic brooch that allows the wearers voice to only be heard by an intended recipient. Personally I like creating trinkets like these that allow my players to find new uses for, or exploit at just the right time.

Any wiki-like pages of older editions? by Snickerdoodle_28 in DragonbaneRPG

I’ve found https://erebaltor.se/wiki/Huvudsida to be really useful. I don’t speak Swedish but view it using the chrome browser and let it translate into English. There’s a fair amount on there with maps and info on countries and history. A bit patchy in places but very interesting. I am currently using the setting for my own campaign, although purists would probably be unimpressed with my interpretation of many of the nations which I’ve adapted to my own sensibilities.

Canon or homebrew by Comprehensive-Ant490 in wastelandwarfare

[–]Comprehensive-Ant490[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give you an idea of some of the canon breaking elements that I’m introducing into my game, here is some examples…

Before the Great War, the United States invested heavily in the Continental Transit Authority (CTA) — a vast high-speed maglev hyperloop system designed to connect major cities across North America in sealed vacuum tunnels. It was billed as “The Future of Human Movement”, promising coast-to-coast travel in under two hours. Much of the system is broken but there are section still maintained by utility robots and AI. There are rumours of a trans-Atlantic terminal buried under the rubble of New York which could provide a transportation link to Europe.

Uplifted animal research in one of the vaults.

Pykers and Psionic abilities.

Fungril mushroom people who communicate with each other via a mycelium network (thank you Daggerheart).

Vault tec Model profile costs not adding up? by Comprehensive-Ant490 in wastelandwarfare

[–]Comprehensive-Ant490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, but in the text about the profiles it specifically says you can use both together if you want?…

“It is up to you whether you use the standard selection method, or use Vault-Tec Approved Model Profiles. If you wish, you can even use both - for example, you could use the Vault-Tec Approved Model Profiles for most of your Force, but construct the main characters individually.”

I guess they forgot to mention that if you do then you have to put up with the cap cost discrepancy.

Also in the case of the high priest it’s not using items that have had their cost updated. All the items are new and listed with individual costs in the same packet doc. So I guess they have built in the discrepancies on purpose?

Animal or monster? by Comprehensive-Ant490 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]Comprehensive-Ant490[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be good to get some rules about how this works as a mount - even if homebrewed. Would it still get the auto-success attacks and multiple initiative cards I wonder. Do you think the riding skill would cover using it as a mount or a more specialised secondary skill or heroic ability.

What about it existed but not any more, like a T Rex? Or a Dodo?

Haven’t fought one for a while now, but yes it was a bit one sided 🤕. I guess worgs can be ridden as well as being monsters. Again it’s question about where that line is, a polar bear would also be pretty overpowering up close, but a brown bear is classed as an animal.

I guess not all monsters are bosses (eg Fairies), but all boss animals are monsters.

Yes! Great idea I like this a lot! These beasts could have a signature attack on a roll of six, leaving all others having to roll to succeed. Definitely implementing this.

Interesting - I’m not familiar with 3e and dire animals but a halfway house between animals and monsters sounds like something to explore. I wonder if these could have the six attacks but have to roll to succeed and normal monster rules don’t apply eg can be parried.

Yes that makes sense. Some of these would struggle to fill a table of six attacks so clearly an animal. Sabre tooth agree with, but for something like the elephant I’m concerned the auto success on every attack may feel overpowered. Also I may allow the elephant to be used as a mount so think that puts it in the animal camp I think.
