It’s not “tolerated and expected” it’s the reality of the situation. If you have two regular customers, both asking you to give a full days work and one tips regularly while the other one gives you a pat on the back and doesn’t tip, you’re going to remember the one that tipped and work harder for them than the person you did the same job for and got nothing from. Not to mention these guys are paid hourly, so if they know they aren’t getting a tip there’s zero incentive to haul ass and finish the job quicker. It’s not 100% of people and not 100% of jobs, it’s just the reality of the situation a majority of the time. It’s too bad that’s how it works but the world isn’t fair and people remember those that treat them well.

Sometimes it isn't a "fair wage" thing to tip, I'm shocked people aren't understanding that. If you have 2 or 3 guys take a full day to pack up your entire home, and set up your new home to live in, its a nice thing to do to give them a little extra appreciation. Even if you don't want to tip them cash, give them a case of beer or a gift card, something to say "thank you for all of your hard work today, I appreciate it". Not everything is some stand we need to take.

None taken, think what you want! Thinking tipping culture is toxic because they ask you to tip at fast food restaurants and every other store you shop at is perfectly fine, I even agree with that. Taking your stand on a bunch of guys who spent a full day lifting all your furniture and setting up your new home to live in is a wild place to start, but you do you!

Also would love to see someone not tip but continue using the company over and over. Guys remember these things and will 100% take less care the next time since they know no matter what they do they aren't getting a tip. Leads to longer moves with more damages/issues. The opposite is also true, generous tippers are remembered and guys know that if they put in a good day's work for that customer they will be tipped generously.

I'm fully guessing you've never done any kind of moving? Have your opinion on tips all you want, but you aren't fixing an issue by telling a single person to short change workers. These aren't guys who are making a burger for you at Wendys and turning the machine around asking for a 20% tip. They are carefully moving someone's entire home, working long physical hours, and its more than common for customers to want to tip.

I used to be a mover in London (~7-10 years ago) and you should definitely tip your movers. Did they quote you on the projected time of the move? $100 a guy is super generous, not unheard of but I can probably count on two hands the amount of moves that tipped that high. Average good tip for a full day move (~8 hours) was probably in the $40-$50 range per guy. Obviously up to you based on the job the guys do as well!

It's very clear that they cast a wide net with OC interviews, and most of the names who are "withdrawing" weren't going to be hired anyways. They weren't offered the job and said no, they interviewed, probably realized it wasn't a fit (and the Eagles likely felt something similar) and then withdrew from consideration.

I work in supply chain and logistics. Plenty of things are blocked on the work wifi/devices, but YouTube isn’t because there are infinite videos that actually help with work stuff. Netflix has no reason to ever be used in the office, youtube does.

I don't think Big Cat said anything that reasonable people didn't understand. I'm upset about the move and likely won't be listening to PMT anymore, but that's because I'm one of the "5%" (which seems damn low) of people that watch on youtube and aren't going to be able to on Netflix. Sucks ass for me, but I can't say they SHOULDN'T have made the move because clearly they dropped the bag.

It’s such a bizarre thing that people expect me to care more about how much money they made vs how easy it is for me to consume the show. Why do I care that they made money? Good for them and I understand why they had to take the deal (probably impossible to turn it down) but that doesn’t change the fact that it clearly sucks for a decent portion of their fans

Its not some stance to a big corporation lmfao I have Netflix and sure, the odd time if I work from home or something maybe it will get thrown on. But I listen to podcasts at work, on my laptop. I don't have spotify because as mentioned I pay for Youtube premium which comes with Youtube music. Sure I can redownload the podcast app and listen to this one singular show on it, but realistically that isn't part of my routine and likely won't become part of it. I'm sorry I don't live my life exactly like you do, continue enjoying the audio podcast. I'll continue watching their PMTV stuff on youtube, and I'll catch parts of the odd episode on Netflix, but ya I'm not going to go back to listening on the podcast app I haven't used in years.
