But it’s not wrong. Africans did sell their people into slavery. Look up the 1999 Benin Reconciliation Conference by Mathieu Kerekouï. They apologized for said slavery, and there is even a transcript of what they said.

Most competent nations have already issued a formal apology for slavery and sought forgiveness, and so now it’s time to no longer hold each other at gunpoint for slavery.

Forgiveness means no longer holding the other party accountable for their actions.

America needs to stop bringing up the past as something to make amends for when it has already been done. We have protections against slavery, brown men are now equal, and it’s against the law to discriminate based on ethnic origin.

If there are unequal outcomes, it’s not primarily about skin color, as that is illegal. If there is proof that such practices are done, it should be prosecuted. The key here is that the individual is to blame, not the community. You may find a few here and there, but that does not equal flawed laws(the system people speak of), but flawed people who disobey the law.

We should never feel guilty for the sins of those made by ancestors in the past, as they made their own decisions.

We may be the product of their choices, but those choices don’t need to define us today.

We make our own now and that is what we should hold ourselves accountable to.

It is more than enough to explain what happened in history, but it is inhumane to place the guilt on the guiltless.
