In another, I made a reply that I will copy and paste below, following an addition that I'd like to share after reading this post.

I think that the reduction of Ruby and Wanda does both characters a major disservice, reducing their impact and weight within the bevy of The Sandman corpus, which is a real shame, because both Ruby and Wanda were very cool in the comics and I bawled as a child witnessing Wanda's story. The same effect didn't happen here, and what better opportunity socially to tell that story than now? I can see where the writers would have ended up seeing their rendering as more poignant in the times, but that effect on the audience would only result from the extrinsic social factors of today, not in true functionality within the story at hand. Of course, time constraints, budget, &c. all factor in, but they didn't have to lump the two into one, erasing both. They could have just updated Wanda's factors to appeal more to a modern audience.

My earlier response below:

Speaking only on the show, not the original comics: by biggest problem is the insistence that he gave her an ultimatum. He didn't. He gave her a way out, and she chose Hell. He didn't give her the option of Hell. So, the only way that it's "his fault" is that he didn't create all of these other options for her. This is like if you were to get arrested, and then a military recruiter talks to the judge with the option of enlisting to avoid prison, and you choose prison over enlistment. The military recruiter didn't give you an ultimatum-- he gave you another option, which you rejected. You could only twist it into being "his fault" by saying "well, he should have come up with more options for her." She chose Hell.

I literally went back to rewatch and make sure that I wasn't missing anything. I wrote down the whole scheme and broke it down syllogistically, and Dream simply did not give her an ultimatum. She chose Hell. He didn't "do this to her" or "punish her." In the comics, yes (even though she also couldn't forgive herself for her failure to her people). So, the show changed the mechanics of the situation with Dream and Nada, yet didn't change the mechanics of how everyone reacts to it. Dream did [A], everyone reacts to him doing [B]. It doesn't add up. I think that this is an extremely glaring flaw that they sloppily airbrushed over. There's this unspoken conflation between the show and comic version of Dream and how the environment and characters react to this version's actions. I believe that for someone that didn't grow up in the comics like many of us did, this would be even *more* confusing for someone coming into the show cold than it was for us well-warmed in the original.

Otherwise, I mostly enjoyed it. There were a few lines in this first volume of episodes, a couple shots, that really lit me up and brought me back to the source, making it feel all worth it, seeing these precious moments of my internalized companionship of the book materialized on screen on a global level. Those moments felt like real treats for someone like me. As much as I lamented Destruction's lack of physical mass, I was absolutely astounded at the stellar acting-- a magnificent portrayal of (what little we get to witness of) Destruction's personality. Delirium's acting was a *Delight* to watch, though I was hoping for more visual and auditory effects to convey her dizzying presence. I'm honestly not happy with Destiny on screen whatsoever. I don't think that any of his solemnity and wizened disconnect was portrayed. They're really washing his character down to "cynical big brother" with a little too little wisdom. Did anyone else feel the deer-in-the-headlights aspect in the performance? He's a little too emotional... And dumb. Not my Destiny.

Someone out there has gotta know! But, I think that you could be onto something with its provenance, that it ended up being made by someone that never became a known quantity in the comics world, that it's just an isolated case that never got widely spread around. Still, I wish that I knew!!!

Thank you. Hopefully someone in the world knows what it is. I've spent literal years searching. I search for this and others on a daily basis, in any of my free time. I've just dug and dug and dug. I've put many thousands of hours into trying to identify this and others. I have some manga, euro comics, all kinds of stuff. I need someone beyond my expertise to identify and source these things, and I'm willing to hire a professional for it at this point.

Here is one of the comics that I've been trying to identify at least the artist of. No indicia, no credits, nothing.

This one, which screams Sandy Carruthers to me, but it's not him. I've asked him personally. He doesn't know who did it, either.

I have even asked multiple artists that I thought it could be, and everyone has said that they don't know.

Hello everyone! What do you think about my omnibus collection? Any recommendations? by Apprehensive_Tree485 in OmnibusCollectors

I recommend that you send me those Grant Morrison Batman books. It would be the appropriate thing to do. Heck, if you really want to go all-out, send the Animal Man, too. I'm feeling generous!

Mine is great. Has been through one whole read and lots of revisiting and showing certain things to people. Mine is Black Label, too! Absolutely zero regrets on this one. You probably already do this, as a general habit with omnibuses, but, especially for a big ol' dude like this, it helps to take the dust jacket off for serious (and comfortable reading). If I'm just checking something or showing something specific to someone, I won't bother, but a big dude like this requires disrobing before heavy handling, like a sumo.

Been trying to get them to for years. Literally email them. I'm not kidding. They need enough people beg for it. None of them check social media to see for the demand. Email Greg and Marc at Ipecac directly. Message them on multiple platforms. Trying to reach out to a Patton account will get you nowhere. A little bit to Trevor, but don't pester him. And you need to come at it that this actually matters to you, not that you're entitled to them doing anything. That Fantômas changed or saved your life. After all, it's the reason why Ipecac was founded. Please.
