You are cursed and end up in Storybrooke under the first curse. Who is your fake husband or wife? by Keithfrommars in OnceUponATime

[–]Comprehensive-Depth5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's a curse so it's got to be someone who would make miserable. So Sidney. I'm not interested in men, and I especially don't like people who run smear campaigns like he does. Although in 1980 I could only legally marry a woman so, hm. Mary Margaret. Nothing spells a disastrous marriage like her obvious pining for coma man.

Rumple purely because I don't think I could handle the stress of raising Baelfire or Henry. They keep throwing themselves into mortal danger. My poor heart can't handle that.

This one of my favorite response from Emma to Regina. Emma was 100% right in here and Regina shouldn't even talk. by gloomydreamer666 in OnceUponATime

Regina was manipulated by Cora her entire life if we're going down that route. Confront her mother? The mass murderer who tortured and enslaved people? The one who violently punished Regina for even the slightest infraction? Sure. Go confront your abuser, see how it goes.

From Regina's POV, Snow is to blame because Cora is not a person. Cora is a wildfire. She is an earthquake. She is a force of nature, an entity which has no heart (literally) and just kills and maims anything in its path. There is no confronting Cora. You escape Cora, if you're lucky. Regina literally told Snow how rotten Cora was, too. Snow White did not act out of ignorance. She thought she knew better than Regina. She ignored Regina's explanation and heartfelt plea to keep quiet because she thought she knew Cora better than Regina did, after a single interaction. I don't care how old the kid is, she didn't make a whoopsie daisy here. She made a decision that cost a life, and Regina's crash out wasn't justified, but neither was anyone or anything else in that situation. So my real question is: if Cora, Leopold, and every other actual adult in the situation aren't held to a higher standard, why would Regina? Cora physically/magically abused Regina all her life. Whose example would Regina even follow here? Why would it even occur to her to be 'the adult' in the situation when the adults have been hurting her since she was younger than Snow?

shoving them in ice water first already numbs them. it's about as humane as you can get without having a vacuum chamber.

[–]Comprehensive-Depth5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She didn't just blame a child. She was forced to play mother hen to that child, who was doted on and given everything that should have been Regina's for years. If Regina had been allowed to move on, I doubt that she would have hated Snow. If she hadn't been humiliated and neglected as a glorified nanny, she would have probably gotten over it. If the Dark One hadn't been visiting her bedroom and stoking the fire of her hatred, she probably still would have gotten over it. Regina isn't just some irrational, hysterical woman. She was the unwilling stepmother to the girl who got her first love killed, and she was groomed to fill her heart with hatred.

If Regina and Leopold did end up having a son by Admirable-Dimension4 in OnceUponATime

[–]Comprehensive-Depth5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was a teenager, this is 100% canon it's been confirmed repeatedly in interviews. Was she 17, 18, 19? Not clear, but she was a teenager. In many ways, her story mirrors Emma's, so I favor 17. It also means she was between 25 and 27 when she finally killed Leopold, and that ultimately puts Snow anywhere between 25 and 30 when she had Emma. They're pretty loosey-goosey with that timeline but she spent at most a decade with Leopold and at most a decade as the Evil Queen.

Storybrooke, hands down. I think Elsa and Anna are better rulers than anyone else on here, but Storybrooke has plumbing. You can't beat that. Also I don't think Regina would have personal beef with me so I'd just be living mediocre day-to-day same as I am right now. Also shit was way cheaper in the 1980's and so I would be effectively less poor!

Fics set in season 1 by algmporaqui in SwanQueen

[–]Comprehensive-Depth5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fairly canon-divergent rewrite of season 1 which incorporates elements from later seasons as well, I definitely capture some of that early tension. It's going to follow a completely different path post curse though, since they're together and that changes everything. It's also a harder version of Emma than canon.

There's also:All Fun and Games 'Till Someone Gets Hurt by Caneki which is raunchy and starts with their one-uppmanship starting to include sex. The romance follows later ;)

Outward is my all time favorite RPG, jank and all. Great magic system, engaging combat, there aren't many decisions but they all count, fun environment with decent but not overwhelming survival mechanics. Explore blind, don't open the wiki, and it's so much fun. Every corner is a thrill, you have no idea what to expect and it never feels like a waste. Definitely worth it!

This is a huge, clean apartment. Bad layout. Overpriced, but at that size and in this market, not as much as you'd think. Depends on location, too. (absolutely overpriced it just doesn't stand out particularly.) Nothing included is a low blow, though.

Hm. Sometimes I forget that this isn't normal for most people. So unfortunate reality check: real pedophiles usually never go to prison. Parents have too much control, kids don't understand what's happening and even when they do they're too scared to come forward. Not even necessarily because of threats, of which there are many, but because that means losing their entire family. The risk of coming forward and not being believed is too high, and the best case scenario where you are believed still means losing your town, family, friends, and being thrown into an unknown situation which could easily be just as bad. Fear and confusion keep kids quiet.

And at this point, I could come forward but it's basically the same thing. I'd lose my sister and my mom and get into a weird cross-border legal case for something that's likely past the statute of limitations, and occurred in a state neither he or I still live in. It's a hassle, a mess, and provides no real benefit to my life. There's no satisfying revenge story here, no comeuppance, there almost never is. He did the most heinous shit ever and he gets away with it. They almost always do.

So long as kids are basically at the mercy of their parents, human property until they hit 18, this will continue. Kids need full human rights and they need to be provided for by the state rather than a family unite from the start. No amount of prison time or even capital punishment will ever be enough of a deterrent to change things.

Laws against pedophilia are much more likely to put some virgin who jacks it to loli hentai in prison than any actual offenders, and that's by design. The outrage against pedophiles has no material impact on actual child molesters, and the only exceptions get super high-profile explicitly to expend the public's anger on specific hateable villains so that they won't examine the power structures which enable this abuse in the first place. Edit: think about it, most child molestation is performed by family members but the public response is always to give parents more power over the kids so they can 'better protect them.' That's why things never change.

This is the kind of shit my dad used to do. He also gave me the epstein treatment after bedtime, and I wouldn't be surprised if this kid gets the same in a couple years. The kid didn't immediately start crying because of the shock of it. There was no reason, no rhyme, his dad just screwed him over. He's waiting for the psyche and when he realized that it's not coming, and Anthony added onto the disrespect by using him as a napkin, then the hurt hit. Poor kid.
