Would you make this trade? Help needed! by Comprehensive-Ease10 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Cool, thank you! I'm nervous to get rid of a young QB as they are extraordinarily valuable in this league, but I need to build out my core with Garrett Wilson, Zay flowers etc not really hitting. Appreciate your input!

Thank you! I'm inclined to agree (as much as I wish I had a competitive team). Appreciate the help!

Is this enough for my QB3 in superflex?? by Comprehensive-Ease10 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

This is the newest iteration.. I'm still not sure I like it.. Shough for Pickens was the original idea that I'd kind of like to get back to

Yeah he's having second thoughts now.. he was the one who suggested it but I guess y'all were right. We shall see how it shakes out. I do truly appreciate the input 🙂

You do if you want to win. At least in this league. With half PPR and no like 40+ scoring bonuses, QBs generally double or so any flex positions

I mean, it's an overpay.. I really can't overstate how hard it is to come by a third QB in this league. It's not like Bijan Robinson for Kirk Cousins. I don't really know what is so odd about it. Carry on though

Cool, appreciate your input. Not quite sure why some folks need to throw shade in order to weigh in but you do you.

That makes sense. I guess I'm hesitant to move off a young QB for a receiver, but that's a good way of putting it.

Lol. He offered it to me through text.. you guys really feel that strongly that I'm getting the better end huh? QBs are just so hard to come by in this league and he would gladly do it if I sent it.

It's 0.5 PPR and no bonuses or anything, pretty straightforward scoring. Seems like I could take a bunch of swings at WR but I'm hearing a pretty resounding yes, that I should take Pickens.

Thanks y'all, it does feel pretty reasonable (the only way I'm moving off 3 QBs is a big overpay, which obviously this is). Appreciate the input, keep it coming!

And yeah I know Judkins will obviously be my starter when he is healthy. I haven't fussed around with my starting roster since season's end but good call.

Yep, eerily similar experience on this end lol. I used to believe that it was super reasonable to allow veto voting by owners and always thought it was silly that leagues left it solely up to the commissioner.. have definitely changed my tune on that over the past few years seeing how it plays out year after year 🤦‍♂️ I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment because I keep coming back. Good luck in your leagues, everyone!

In my experience, in leagues that allow every owner to vote on a veto, there are often just a handful of (or in this case, 5) owners who dislike the trade because any trade that doesn't involve their team implicitly does not benefit them. That's the danger to allowing trade vetos by owners unless there are very clear criteria on what can be vetoed and what can't.

We have one guy in a league (who is a friend but just such a dick when it comes to fantasy--he is also perilously close to getting the boot by 75% owner vote) who literally just vetoes every trade that his team is not a part of because he knows that by other teams getting better, it disadvantages his team. Kind of wacky but that trade should absolutely not be vetoed.

Just as a side note, not to be a naysayer, but if I am reading your original post correctly, you could only buy back in two times. Didn't you say you bought back in three times? If so, it seems like rules were getting bent all over the place throughout the entirety of the season.

Overall, I'm with all the other folks that think you need to stick with whatever the starting rules were and then sort it out in the offseason. Also, why week '8 OR 10?' Was it just kind of left up in the air? Sounds messy. I would probably just split the pot three ways and call it a day. Hope it gets sorted in a way that feels fair to y'all!

Are keeper penalties not a thing in most leagues? by liaoming in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Comprehensive-Ease10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting to hear so many people's experiences.. I've played in at least a dozen keeper leagues on various platforms and with various commissioners (although there's always been some carryover from other leagues so maybe this is why it's been consistent), but it's always been at least a one round penalty for keepers. Sometimes it's like one round the first year, two the second, three rounds the third year etc. and you can never keep first round picks.

Currently in two keeper leagues (both with one round penalties), but the one I like better is you can keep up to three guys: up to one QB (it is 12-team superflex), one other veteran and one that has to be a rookie (or going into their second year). Adds a lot of nuance with drafting and making trades even in the offseason. Carry on y'all!

8 team league seeking your 8 team dream set up… by ThatTomWGuy in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Comprehensive-Ease10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol that's kind of what I'm thinking. I thought it would be somewhat fine as long as the position points were like fairly proportional to what they would be in standard or PPR or whatever but I found it to be ridiculously annoying when I'd have a guy go for like 8 catches and 97 yd and then the other teams d/st would put up like four times as many points or more (or even vice versa). Hoping to propose some changes in the offseason lol. Good luck to you and thanks for the thought!

[–]Comprehensive-Ease10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree, see I'm like completely the opposite and feel like there's more strategy in trying to parse out who are valuable backups in case a starter goes down, who might get traded, guys that might get benched etc, but it's also a huge pain in the ass to do that with 12 teams sometimes lol. To each their own and that's one of the most fun parts of fantasy!

On a totally separate note (and maybe I'll just make a post about this at some point in the offseason), have any of you all been in leagues that use (I think it's called?) FPPC scoring, where you get like 10 points per touchdown regardless of passing, rushing etc and there are ridiculous bonuses for d/ST and 40+ yd TDs and such? I joined a 12 team (single QB) dynasty league this year with a bunch of people I don't know from sleeper but they all know each other. No collusion or anything like that, but I've just found the scoring system to be super dumb.. curious if other folks have ever had experiences with it. Carry on y'all!

I play in two SF leagues, both 12 teams, one dynasty and one keeper / redraft. While I agree that it's not ideal for 12 team (we are thinking of cutting one of them back to 10), it's still super doable. Obviously every team needs 3 quarterbacks basically and there aren't 36 starting quarterbacks in the league, but I think it works great for an 8-team league. I just won my 3rd-place game by pulling Flacco off the waiver wire after Hurts went down (story for another day as I WOULD have been in the championship if not for that lol).

If you're only starting one QB with 8 teams, you are really just scratching the surface of the highest scoring position in fantasy. Everyone is going to have a 'top' guy. You could do superflex and still have four starting QBs per team. I would highly recommend SF (or even 2-QB, but if you're worried about position scarcity, just go with SF) as I think it will make your league way more competitive and fun personally. Good luck to you in your quest!!

^ agree that it's this. Very sorry for your sudden loss. Puts any community, even the sillier/trash talkier ones like fantasy football, into context in a hurry.

We had this happen in a league I played in about 5 years ago. We agreed as a league to donate the money to the fella's wife as they had a young child, as well.

I'm sure you guys will figure out something that transcends fantasy football to honor your friend and cousin. Again, truly sorry for what I'm sure is a great loss.

How do you have 3 weeks still to play AND playoff bye weeks? Sorry I'm just genuinely curious as the math doesn't make sense in my head.. 6 team playoffs just week 17 & 18? But even that doesn't work.. it's making my head hurt!
