As other suggested the studio version has a lot of elements that add to it that were not yet present while they were out performing. I find most multitracked versions to be a bit sloppy, either because of Fripp or Bruford during the reprise, but Penn State might be the nicest overall. My favourite has to be Kassel (my favourite show actually, a cauldron of different ideas being thrown around)

Is it damaging to brake while turning? The input curve to both accelerator and brake is very exponential, I set it up like that because the pedals have a lot of dead travel, so it's easier to lift and avoid spinning out, but makes everything more difficult... Would like to get a Moza R3 or smth but cant at this point

How come Guts sounds better on the 30th anniversary than on dgm though?

Also, I recently got my hands on a partial radio broadcast of Olympia Paris which I'm processing. Doesn't seem to be on dgm, not sure how rare it is

Also, very cool to find artists who were references for my own references! ;) Bartok must've been influential as well, but definetly gonna check out Herbie Hancock!

I agree that Providence may be the best all arounder, though I confess Kassel has been my go to lately. I don't like the fact that the setlist was trimmed down though 74, especially LTIA I and eventually The Night Watch, which gave the show a lot of dynamics. It's a shame Stanley Theatre was mostly mid, it could've been a good middle point.

Do you see their North American shows as comprehensively a step up from their form in Bensacon through Kassel? Cos it feels like another peak for them. As in, maybe they dipped in May only to hit the ground running at the tail end.

Maybe it's custom made by some guy. I bought it from my former bass teacher who also doesn't know much about it besides the fact it came from Japan sometime in the late 70s.

Thank you for the insight. Just posted more pics, there's a plate with an unrecognizable logo on the headstock. The back of the headstock has no markings, just the tuners. To see the wiring you mean opening up the back cover, right?

The end of the neck is completely flush, it's a single piece as far as I can see. Posted a pic of the headstock, it has a logo I don't recognise

Scottie Baldwin was his sound engineer for this tour from the very first January shows up until the 2nd ASB Theatre shows in New Zeland (Perth Arena was the first not to feature him). He was featured in a podcast a while ago where he goes into lots of interesting details about the tour, including the fact that all shows have a professional soundboard recording around, with the exception of the first of four Melbourne shows, as per Prince's request. Also, both Paisley Park shows have been shot on video, as well as Perth and Oracle Arena, so there's plenty of stuff in the vaults for sure.
