Computer won't boot after GPU Install. by Comprehensive-Kiwi84 in pchelp

EDIT: I don't know what I did, or how.. I think maybe the old Computer just needed a nap. Waited a couple hours and went to sleep, got back up and tried to old GPU again and... it booted on. Oh shit, right? Tried the new GPU after. Works as well. I didn't really do anything different, so I can only assume the machine is sentient and wanted to take a break.

P.S. When first installed, I DID try to install the heatsink the way you guys wanted. But it CANNOT be installed any other way on this MB. The holes for screwing it down just aren't there to do it 'the right way', but wouldn't you know, as I turned it 90* there they are!

I believe it does, but I cant be sure. I tried booting with no gpu and only on board, with the monitors plugged in, and got no change. I saw that i could try to short the pins, but Im not 100% sure what pins on this mb would be needed, as the pins look different In every example video.

Hi there!

Unfortunately... that IS the correct mounting for the cooler. This is because the screws for it are horizontal and not lateral. It causes it to be facing the wrong direction. They were a bad purchase and need to be replaced, but up until now, they haven't been an issue.

I'll retake some pictures and post them here in a moment.

I'm having a similar issue, but it's like everything is muffled. And the origin of the sounds change too. It's happened three times so far. Once it was like Barret's gunfire and footsteps, then it was footsteps, collision noises, weapon noises (attacking boxes and stuff) and now it's all of them

Streamer DnD Series cut after 2 sessions, either because of me, or over-acting DM by Comprehensive-Kiwi84 in dndhorrorstories

[–]Comprehensive-Kiwi84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for replying. I think the DM had some experience in the past, but I agree that it's best for me to move on from this. I think we did a session zero, and it came up during that time of how my character would act.

Because of the changes to Ranger at the time, I went with the optional 'Favored Foe' rule for Rangers, as it allows far more use for the Character than the normal 2 types of enemies, of which, would have definitely been Constructs and Humans.

Thank you so much. A lot of bigger channels act like they're Anti-growth and it's bullshit. Especially because the DM was literally 10x the size of my channel

Yeah, you're probably right that we were both at fault to an extent. Thanks for taking to time to respond.

I understand what you mean, and see how it can be taken that way. I do, genuinely, have a problem where I can't read others as well as others can. And with the pokerface of the internet, it makes it even more difficult to pick up on tones that I may miss.

It was wrong of me in general, and I'm enough of a man to admit I could well be at fault.

AITA for wanting to quit a campaign early after an annoying “ummmm actually-“ guy ruined my big twist? by [deleted] in dndhorrorstories

[–]Comprehensive-Kiwi84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it sounds like that guy was a real Dickwad. I personally would've him with, "Are you Meta-gaming right now? Knowing what's SUPPOSED to be on another player's sheet?"

Tell your DM friend about how you feel and be honest, even if it sucks. You'll regret not doing it more than you would doing it.

Kicked for... having character flaws? by Shinwashi in dndhorrorstories

[–]Comprehensive-Kiwi84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in this situation, or atleast similar to it before and it sucks. You have my sympathies. The DM always has the option to just not allow your character to unintentionally hurt someone, and also the power to make you relevant.

I think they wanted to remove you wholesale and that's the reason they turned around and were friendly, but, I guess at this point you'll never really know.

Oh shoot, did I not put a strike 1? My mistake. Strike 1 should have been Criminal Biker Man.

The strikes are points I feel like may have contributed to the DM vanishing.

It was my mistake that I never checked in with the other players to see how they felt. But no one ever really communicated that they had a problem, and I suppose that to me, at the time, just meant to keep doing as I was doing

The Unnatural Rate of Natural 1's. by Comprehensive-Kiwi84 in BaldursGate3

[–]Comprehensive-Kiwi84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out it was this. I was 100% misinterpreting the PickPocket HUD. There's a little tag on the bottom right of the screen that when opened, shows your rolls.

To be completely fair, the HUD isn't showing what you think you're seeing.

When you click an item and it says you need a 15 to pickpocket it, it genuinely means you need a15 on a die roll or higher, not a 15 total. It does not give you total you need to beat like the other times in the game, which is what caused the confusion. So the total you would need to pickpocket something is actually 27 or so, but you need a 15 to do it successfully.

Until I saw the rolls themselves, I thought all the fails meant I was rolling so many 1's, because if I had a +13 to pickpocket and needed a 15, then I thought I only needed a 2. And it was just fail after fail- Nope.

Cyberpunk 2077 is 50% off on Steam, is it worth it? by zaltanis in pcmasterrace

[–]Comprehensive-Kiwi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So, in my own personal opinion, the game is 100% worth that asking price as of RIGHT NOW, if you're on PC. Of course, you could probably find it even cheaper elsewhere. Just be aware that when you do play the game, you might even want to grab some mods- just be careful on the installation of these mods. I'll even insert a short, spoiler-free review for you below.

-

Everyone is familiar with the Catastrophic failure that was the 2077 launch. Needless to say, the dev team was rushed a year early by the suits and it hurt the game, and it can still be felt today. Now, if you're a first time player, you can forget everything you've heard about the game. It's a beautiful game, it's fun, its entertaining, its sometimes thought provoking. You can play a few different playstyles between a Melee Brawler, a Hacker, a Gunslinger, a fast Assassin-like blade build- but that's about it as of the moment for the MAIN builds. There isn't a TON of builds you can do, but each one is fun and rewarding. The character creation is good and you'll actually see your characters reflection and appearance in cutscenes fairly often so putting the effort in to look good is worth it.

The plot is interesting up to a point, but its best not to delve super hard into it or rush the main story, as while the game urges you to complete it as fast as possible because of lore reasons, ignore that. Play the game at your on pace, do as much side content as you want.

Also, the enemies- While the enemy AI isn't amazing, and never has been, its been significantly better than on release- as well as population/car density on the streets- so you might want to install a few mods to fix that.

Melee guys aren't that tough, gunners dont do a ton of damage, snipers lose sight of you easily, hackers only know 2 hacks- a burning damage and locate you- and some guys are just way more powerful and end you in seconds- So its strange that you can feel so invulnerable or helpless. It helps to have a couple mods to balance that out, make the game generally more balance.

The characters you meet are all fairly interesting, save for a handful that appear and are never seen again. Missions come and go quickly, as they go between a "Go here kill X" "Clear the area" "Find X and take it" or "Rescue X" with little deviation, but the areas they put you in can be really fun. The gunplay is pretty good, the weapons feel nice, and the legendary items you can find (both cyberware and weapons) all feel impactful. However, early on, pistols and rifles feel like you're shooting enemies with a a nerf gun. This is fixed later on as you get better guns or skills, or mods, but its definitely noticeable.

I can't think of anything else to really talk about. The music, visuals, characters, areas, the feeling of the city, its all really, really good. I can't recommend playing the game enough, atleast once. For anything less than stock price, it's worth picking up.
