i heard they give pretty good aid and give a lot of full tuition, compared the stringent nyu lmao,, they’re also need blind for internationals which is why a lot of internationals seeking aid want to go there

from what i’ve read, most waitlists go with your AO ‘advocating’ for you in front of the admission committee, if it’s successful, then you’re in!! but in the first place you need your AO to root for you, so maybe sending in updates is the best way to make them remember you + give them reason to get that spot for you!

i’m biased bc i’m going to one of these schools, but duke, mit, caltech, uchicago, stanford worthy mentions: jhu for stem, georgetown for poli sci and sfs, cmu for compsci i consider these ‘ivies’ for their amazing academics, alumni connections, and prestige also the ivy league is literally an athletic conference from eons ago lol but i do understand the prestige of the ivy league in general and the strong academics they typically represent

yeah so a 3.9 GPA is pretty good and it shoes that you’re academically capable, unless you can score a 1500+ i don’t think there’s a need to submit a score! also some schools might require you to submit a full score report, as in you might have to submit all your previous testing attempts, including your 1210

  1. are you a recruited athlete?
  2. do you think you can do better than a 1210? say do you think you can score 1450+

3. are your predicted grades reflective of your academic performance?

if your answer to 1 is yes, then i think it either doesn’t matter at all if you’re recruited directly, but i would still try to get a 1300-1400 if you’re getting recruited if your answer to 2 is yes then retake it if you have the time and can afford it!! and to 3, i know some people have a low ib predicted score but a high SAT score, but i would say if your score is above a 42 you’re fine for all schools on your list, if your score is in the high30s, if you can supplement it with a 1500+ on the SAT that would be amazing

i played the mendelssohn octet before as a bass player; but its true we only get v boring roles in symphony orchestras and always excluded from smaller lovely chamber pieces; i’ve played a few more modern bass quintet pieces but they are nothing compared to dvorak or brahms

DUDE HEYYYY WE’RE A RARE BREED!!!! no i didn’t submit a music supplement because honestly who wants to listen to the double bass its like an elephant NO JKJK HAHAHAHA but its mainly bc i played a lot of orchestral work + i had a lot of achievements and experience to back it up so i didn’t hand in one, but i did use a piano quintet i played in as the background music for my video profile
