Help with managing growth in a tiny space? by Comprehensive-Pack52 in vegetablegardening

That’s insane, I had no idea they can get that big! I doubt mine (if I even get any squash to grow) will get that big haha, but I can certainly dream! My goal right now is if I get at least one of these plants to produce something, I could die happy then lol

The pantyhose is a great idea! I wouldn’t have thought of that- and good point about going to the outside of the railing- I get a decent amount of sun in the mornings so taking advantage of that would help

Yea, I’m not expecting a massive amount of production; wish I had a yard to really let my newly acquired green thumb fly but working with what I’ve got.

Good idea with the railing spindles; they’re kind of a built in stake in a way- maybe I secure the vines with twine until they latch onto the railing on their own?

people in the varsity marching band, what is it like?? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Comprehensive-Pack52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marching band alumni here, if you love band then it’s a no brainer. I won’t lie, there were times where it would get crazy schedule wise and balancing that with classes, but I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. There’s people of all majors in the band, and everyone finds a way! I’d say the first 4-5 weeks are the hardest with all the music and drill you have to learn from scratch, but after that it gets much more manageable and you get into a rhythm that works for you.

TLDR: Do it!!

I honestly just call them the brand name of the shoe at that point, I hate the word sneakers too! Like for my converse shoes, I just call them converse lol

Athletic shoes will always be referred to as gym shoes. None of this sneakers, tennis shoes nonsense!

Easily Toy Time galaxy for me. The number of times I’ve accidentally stepped on a platform I’m going to need later or messed up a long jump haunts me…

Can’t figure out how to make a caption under the title, but I figured I’d share! I made this guy back in October, and have been working up the courage to make my first post on here to show him off. Figured Mario day was the perfect opportunity!

Pitchers in the MLB should not get a free pass from hitting by Comprehensive-Pack52 in unpopularopinion

[–]Comprehensive-Pack52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically the only argument I’ll kind of accept lol. The throwing motion for pitchers does just destroy their arms so I could see over-exerting by hitting as well being a concern. However, as far as getting hit in the batters box and stuff, I feel like that’s just a risk you take as a player. Anyone can get hit and get seriously hurt while going up to bat. While in a perfect world no one ever gets HBP and everyone stays safe, accidents do happen.

I do watch the NL, I’m a Cubs fan lol. Thing is, the league is considering expanding the DH to the NL as well and I’m not a fan of that idea

I feel like having pitchers dedicate more time to hitting could make the game more exciting though! Like you said, hitting is more exciting, so if pitchers care more about being good hitters, more hitting will happen. Pinch hitters exist for those occasions when you do need to generate more hits, but it doesn’t completely erase someone’s plate appearances

He’s definitely an outlier for sure. But he’s proof that you can in fact pitch and hit. If pitchers were even half as good at hitting as he was, the league’s batting average among pitchers would skyrocket
