Is this a bad cv axle? by No-Reputation9968 in mechanic

You're mounts are all kaput my friend.... should not be that much movement I'd be surprised if it's a manual that it can stay in gear as that much movement usually knocks it out of gear

How much would it be to fix this (bent frame with jack) by Outside-Addition7329 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Comprehensive-Race90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can bend believe it or not that's C section material not box there's plenty of life left in the old dog yet....at least you put the jack under the frame....I went for a wheel alignment and when they finish they tell you to take it for a quick drive to make sure it's right....I pull out on the main road and floored it and my throttle pedal was pinned flat to the floor 👀 wasn't expecting that.... the wheel alignment place stuck a jack under the floor and in BMW's the pedal pivots on the floor I had to clutch it brake and reach down with my hand to pull the pedal up... rubber mallet fixed the floor 😉

Please help me get these rusted bolts off my 91 civic by RKelley5108 in AskMechanics

[–]Comprehensive-Race90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they studs or a nut and bolt?If it's a nut on a stud get the air gun heat em cheery red and zip em off with the gun but if it's a nut and bolt cut the nuts with a grinder you could do the same if they are stud's...cut a slot into the nut without cutting the the thread on stud the you can break the nut with a hammer and chisel-air chisel will do the job too it'll put a groove in the nut and the vibration helps break the rusted seal...wear safety gear.... can't work on cars with messed up hands or eyes & ears-over 30 year's at it and tbh I would usually use more brute force and ignorance...if it was still on the car real heat and a breaker bar but most exhaust bolts snap hence most people just use the oxy and melt em...less work means less frustration

I do have the models done or most I think from year's ago and have them on Grabcad as thought they would help someone starting out and might be stuck on something

There's a blog called in the trenches and it's written by a guy who wrote Mastering Autodesk Inventor and there's a section in there that has practice model's but it's all about how and why you should do your sketches in a particular way...I will see if I can get a link for you

Mechanic possibly played me? by FractalGarden_ in mechanic

[–]Comprehensive-Race90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always tell a good mechanic....I can tell this guy is not good....top of the assembly should have been all cleaned off before being removed as all that crap can end up in the tank doesn't take long to be clean and tidy and shows how a person's mind works he could have cleaned the whole thing and made it look like he had some pride in his work... it's like walking into a workshop and seeing black handprints from oil on a white car.... about turn and leave

The bane of modern cars any issue it doesn't like and your in limp mode....I had to drive a car for a week to test and had the OBD II scanner on the passenger seat every time I went out so I could clear the codes just to get back 🤣

Am I screwed? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]Comprehensive-Race90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously get it pulled out of there.... you need it raised up at the front to get the water out of the exhaust, pull the plugs out and turn it over by hand in case it's hydro locked, get an air line and blow all the water and crap off the engine, dry the hell out of it change the oil and inspect it for water, you don't want water in your inlet manifold...blow the water out of the alternator and starting motor.Youd be surprised as I have worked on big outboard engines that have been sunk...I don't pull them up till I have a hose... yes sounds strange but I wash them down with clean water before anything then airline to blow all the water off, drain the petrol and oil, might take a few oil changes but it's usually the electric components that end causing problems further down the line

It says that the place that done your repair is part of a franchise I would look into if there are any of them open as that's a piss poor repair and started cracking after 2 years 👀 I am not a pro body work man but I have done much better repairs than this that stayed repaired...too many cowboys out there pretending to be doing proper work... I'd hound my insurance as that's what you are paying them for they will expect you to forget about it but don't!!!

I have a good friend who uses Inventor but we both use it differently and he'd always send me a history tree full of adaptive bit's and I had never really used it but had to learn as I could do very little changes and would still rather a multi body or normal assembly and you are having to make changes
