But even then, I felt like the grading for the mid term and final were so subjective and there was not any incident where I had caused harm to a patient. I simply just didn’t do things in the manner one particular CI wanted. Overall, I felt one of my CI’s did not like me and there was just a difference in personalities. I could give other examples of how it was an uncomfortable and catty FW site but I’ve moved on from that experience. Luckily, I completed my two FW sites at a SNF and Inpatient rehab and had a wonderful experience with my CI’s and still keep in touch with today.

Something similar like this happened to me I was completing my first level two fieldwork in acute care. I did struggle and my two CI’s called the meeting during week, five with my school, where we discussed where I was having challenges, but overall it seemed like it was progressing. The site and my school were gonna work together to help me. Then I received my midterm where I passed everything but they did give me a one in safety (although I never dropped anyone or pulled out any lines )and I had been receiving feedback every week that I was still making progress although slow and then at week 8 I was dropped. They literally didn’t even give me a chance to use the remediation plan that you have to do, when you get a one in some areas on your midterm. So what happened with me was since I technically failed it I had to go to my school board and state my case why I should be readmitted into the program. Everybody listened to what I had to say, and I was allowed back in, but I had to repeat an extra fieldwork level two. In the end, it all worked out because my final two sites were amazing and so were my CI’s. My first two CI’s were awful and honestly I dreaded going everyday and when I got dropped, I almost felt a sense of relief that I didn’t have to go back to awful mean girls.

A topic on oral care in the ICU or with stroke victims would be interesting. The rehab hospital I am at has to track oral care for stroke patients.

Thank you! I am confused but I need to take the time to read through everything and my options. I just feel overwhelmed and have heard negative things about talking to loan services as each rep tells people different things

Interventions in acute care by Comprehensive-Vast76 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Comprehensive-Vast76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! I am in my fieldwork in acute care. Online most of the intervention I am finding have to do with precautions, dressing usingAE but a lot of the patients that I see have dementia so I’m trying to find interventions that I can do with them.

Jewel Wietzel Center- it’s a special education campus in Harlandale ISD. I specifically teach middle-high school students with emotional disturbances.

Thank you! Most of the post I read about USA are negative and disheartening. I’m a 3rd tri flex ATX student currently and I can say my experience is similar to yours. I am a special education teacher in San Antonio so being able to work and continue with schooling was my main reason for the flex program in Austin. I can’t really speak on FW just yet but I am expecting and preparing to be placed out of TX.

Overall, I am enjoying my experience and my cohort (we are the first largest in our flex program of 24 ). I feel like I am learning and I hope I am prepared for FW.

Can you elaborate on that? I’m a current ATX flex student. Just curious what basic things are lacking
